Could I still get into top colleges if I was suspended as a sophomore?

Please read the paragraph below. I'm quite worried about this.

I have a CR: 740, M: 760 and W: 670
My GPA is fantastic (We use a weird scale but I assure you it's at least 4.0) and I have some unique EC's.

I'll post my rough draft of the Common App write up.

I was suspended once during my sophomore year for a violation of Conant High School's behavioral code. Provided below is an explanation of the event.
During the month of October, 2008 I was planning the first of the many charity tournaments I have organized at the school. However, I was met with the disdain of the senior class as they wanted the money from the admissions fees. Although I attempted to solve the issue by allowing them to use the same idea for a tournament of their own a compromise could not be reached. One day near the end of a class period a senior and I were having a discussion when she stood up, leaned forward and yelled at me about the issue mentioned above. When I stood up to leave the situation she told me to sit down. As I paused to decide how to leave another senior came behind me and told me to sit as well. When thought that I saw his fist coming towards my face I turned, flailed fists at him as I turned and backed up. After my suspension I became friends with the student who approached me from behind. I learned that one must not assume that danger is imminent. One should attempt to gain awareness of all situations in while decisions need to be made and act in a non-destructive manner.

Thank you everyone.

Plz clarify: is the statement just to explain the suspension? If so, fine. However, you should not waste space on any of your personal statement sections. Your GC should also include a small write up.

If otherwise having a clean record and your being a strong candidate otherwise, there should be no undue concern.

Thats kind of a corny reason to get suspended anyway. I would go talk to your pricipal and have them erase it from your record. They might try to tell you they can’t, but I bet you they can.

The OP assaulted another student. It’s not easy to “erase” from the record.
