Could I transfer credit from a community college that doesn't apply to my major

I took English 115 over the summer and got a “B” for the course at a community college, could i used that credit for the university,CSUSM, I am now in for credit or no.

P.S: I’m a Freshman in college

P.S.S: If yes, Is it to late to get the credit because the English course ended on August 8th and I already started my courses.
