I took the ACT last Saturday and it was the most jank, unorganized, sketchiest thing I've ever done in my life. I took it at a place I've never heard of before and when I checked in I went and sat in a giant room with probably a hundred other kids. There were like 10 women running around telling kids where to sit and then moving them all over. A big fat black lady came up to me and was like "Some kids gotta move what's your name???!" and I told her and she said "COME WIT ME" and took me to this hall and placed me in this dimly-lit, tiny room with construction in the room still going on. (They weren't doing any construction at the time, it was just like halfway finished) I sat in the back corner and was very cramped. We started the test at probably 9am. The proctor woman didn't know what the ACT test was, she probably thought we were still in school taking a final exam, and then she didn't read out any of the ACT instructions that they're usually required to read out. She was just like "OK, the first test is English... go!" and we started. She had a timer set for 35 minutes and she left the room towards the end of the English section. She came back a few minutes later and was like "OK, we're ahead of the others, so I'll just give y'all five extra minutes." I was like WHAT?!??! That is NOT allowed! Then we did the Math section (I don't think she gave us extra time) and we got our break. I think she gave us extra time on the reading, not on the science, and she gave us TEN extra minutes on the writing! Then to top it all off, she didn't know what the Student Questions were (like where it asks you if the proctor helped you and stuff) so we just didn't answer them. She picked up our test booklets and stuff in a messy heap and put them all on the table! Maybe the ACT won't even have the chance to void them because they'll never get them. But aren't they really strict about no extra time? The people running it obviously had no clue what they were doing. But I did really well on this ACT I think so I don't want my scores to be ruined. What do you guys think?

I don’t think the scores would be voided unless someone actually complained to the ACT corporation about being given extra time to take the exam…and I really don’t see that happening. I don’t think the Student Questions are mandatory, or at least not to the point that not answering them will override the entire test. Just be grateful for this happy accident. Most people would love to have been given more time to take the ACT. Besides, even ff your scores are voided, obviously you will be refunded by the ACT corporation because the mistake was not your fault, and you’ll have until September to study for the next exam. I guess there’s always a silver lining! :)

On the offical ACT website there is an area to report unfair testing practices and they will investigate and/or cancel your scores if necessary. As long as no one in your testing center has done so, then your scores won’t be affected.

I absolutely don’t mind that I got extra time on some sections. I doubt anyone will file a complaint, I was just thinking the whole time “This is NOT allowed…” hahaha if I ever have to take the ACT again I’ll be sure to take it there again!!!
