@michellel777 : I am sorry for your Wellesley rejection. International students have lower acceptance rate than domestic students and you are from one of the most over-represented states and also an ORM. Statistically, your chances are slim even with your stats. You have good stats so you should be able to get into some schools which are more focused on stats. Regarding your ECs, there are few evidences showing that you are a team player (I am not saying that you are not) ,which can only be shown if you rose to leadership positions of existing clubs/organizations which have a track record of really doing something meaningful. You did not submit a music supplement so it is impossible to know your music talent. You started an org under the UN but you did not state your accomplishment there. None of your ECs is long enough to show your commitment. It looks like they are all individual events. If you have not had an interview, I am sorry you could guess the possible answer to your chances question.

What do you want to study ?

To which other colleges & universities have you applied ?

Great GPA & SAT II scores. But from the limited information about your intended major area of study & career goals, I don’t know whether you should be applying to CMU & Rice or to Williams & Wellesley.

international relations. I also applied to williams, amherst, and a bunch of libeal arts schools.

i also started my own team to help international students. btw, i’m a green card holder, so technically i’m domestic

@michellel777 : I read this Economist magazine article (https://www.1843magazine.com/features/the-long-march-from-china-to-the-ivies) long time ago and found valuable information inside. I learned how many students from China are trying to get into US elite colleges. If you were rejected by Wellesley, statistically, you don’t have much chances at Brown. ED rejection means something is wrong in your file. Your are not even wait-listed. Nothing you can do now. You must have some safeties in addition to your reaches. Best wishes.

@michellel777 : If you really don’t know why you were rejected by Wellesley, open the link I put on #5, search for “they become worse applicants” and read the three paragraphs before the search hit, you will know the reason. You also did a “MUN UCLA” …

“ED rejection means something is wrong in your file” really hurts. I attended high schools in US for the past four years, and I simply don’t know what could go wrong with my files.

please explain how I got accepted to Midd. There is nothing wrong with my file. Please stop stereotyping. College admissions process is all about the best match.

proud to announce that I will be going to Midd.

@michellel777 : Congratulation to your admission to “Midd”. I apologize for my ignorance. If you are referring to “Middlebury College”, you are a true URM there and enjoy the huge URM hook. I look at the latest Midd 2015 Student Body Profile (http://www.middlebury.edu/student-life/community-living/diversity-inclusivity/alliance-for-an-inclusive-middlebury/2015-student-body-profile) – 6.2% Asian, even less than 9.0% Hispanic/Latino. Madame Chiang Kai-shek graduated from Wellesley College. Wellesley is extremely famous in Asia – 22% Asian American there. You are full paid. Midd definitely welcomes you as a true URM. You got the URM boost as other URMs at top tier colleges. See http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21335988/#Comment_21335988 , Brown has a whopping 24% Asian applicants and only 13.1% of enrolled students are Asian. The admission rate for Asian is much, much less than the normal applicants at Brown. I hope your Asian friends know where you are going. I am truly sorry I have never heard of Midd.

Welcome to the Middlebury family! My daughter will be in the class of 2022.5 and is heading up to the admitted students days in April. Make sure to join the Facebook group and the GroupMe where they are all talking and sharing info. Congratulations on your acceptance!

@nrtlax33 yes, I am referring to Middlebury College located in Vermont. and thanks for the info:)

@PPEATT Thank you so much! I will for sure check out the facebook group/groupme. Congrats to your daughter as well!

@michellel777 : Did you see that despite the small 6.2% Asian population, “Three Middlebury Students Earn Watson Fellowships” (http://www.middlebury.edu/newsroom/archive/2018-news/node/568572) – two of them are Asian. You will be successful there. I wish you the best of luck.

@nrtlax33 thanks for the encouragement.

Congratulations! Midd was my top, but I was waitlisted (also WL at Amherst, Williams, and Wes, my other tops). I somehow got into Brown and Cornell though…just shows how random this all is!!

@margaret1515 very true!!! Congrats!
