Could someone chance me for RD?

Here's what I've got:

SAT:
Math:710
Verbal:730
Writing:700

I have yet to get my SAT IIs back. If they're over 650, am I ok?

ACT: 33 composite

GPA: 4.14 (weighted), 3.9 (unweighted)

Courseload: "Very Demanding"

EC:
-VERY high music involvment in school and community (lessons on 3 instruments)
-Drum Major/Section Leader of marching band
-Band president
-Tri-M Music Honors Society
-National Honors Society
-High youth group/service involvement.

I'm sending in a CD with some music compositions of mine.

Also, I've got two letters of rec, both of which are astounding...I love my teachers. :) One of them really tried to show that Columbia's philosophy on education is very similar to mine.

Also, I've written an essay about my homosexuality, which I think should help me a little on the diversity front. It's about the difficulties of being a homosexual in a very conservative environment and how I've come to accept myself. I've tied this in with Columbia's idea on education and their Core about philosophy and carrying our experiences out to the world. Is this a good hook?

What do you all think? Do I have a good shot?

I also forgot to add that I've read a very rigourous literature course, which I've indicated. The teacher who tought this has written me a letter of rec. Much of this is dedicated to philosophy and the way the literature applies to society, which she's indicated in her letter.

I'd like to know this too. You seem very similar to me (exact same GPA, in fact), other than the homosexuality. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

being homosexual, in and of itself, doesn't contribute to diversity. Lame claim, man.

I agree with Denzera; one must be black, Hispanic, or Native American in order to contribute to diversity.

If you want a great way to gauge your chances, head over to the class of 2012's ED results. Keep in mind that some applicants accepted under ED would not have been accepted under RD (and oddly enough, vise versa).

Columbia has gotten real hard to get into recently, soon to become the third hardest Ivy %age-wise. With 40% of the class going to those w/ legit hooks (athletes, URMs, legacies, VIPs, etc.), the odds even for the strongest of applicants are long.
