Could someone explain how to get around town?

Lator gator or whatever it's called. I'm going to be attending school up there with no car.

Lets say I want to go to Walmart at 3:00pm who do I call? Is there a telephone number or something? Or do I just wait at a stop?

Can someone please explain the forms of transportation? Including times of services for these buses, and how they work etc.

Thank you so much :),

I signed a lease to live at the University Commons on Archer Rd if it makes any difference.

routes 1, 9, 12, 22, 35, 36, and 38 to campus.

1 and 12 go to walmart, Target, Ross, Best Buy, Publix x 2, Barnes and Noble…all at Butler plaza. 35 and 36 go to a different publix at Williston Plaza.

12 and 35 run as late as 2-3 AM.

Looks to me like you got a sizable number of buses from which to choose. The only thing is that you’re one of the last major stops to campus, which means you’ll most likely have to stand during morning runs or you might also encounter a full bus. But at least you’ve got many buses that come by very often and it’s not a long ride. And when you’re on campus and want to go home, you can catch a bus from west side of campus (12 & 36 @ Gale-Lemerand), Reitz (I think like all of them), or east side of campus (I think all of them again @ Rawlings hall).

Hint: buses don’t normally follow their times very well, especially later in the day. So it’s a good idea to google “transloc rts” and favorite it. also there’s an app for your phone. It shows you where the buses are becuase they all have gps trackers.

Maybe the first couple of days are overwhelming, but you’ll know the system eventually.

Lazman, here is a link to the bus with all the info you will need I hope
[RTS - Regional Transit System for the city of Gainesville, FL, the University of Florida and surrounding areas.](http://go-rts.com/)

the bus is free with your gator 1 student ID…just figure out where you are going and look at the bus schedule and find out which # bus is going there. You wait at the bus stop for that # bus. I heard University Commons is a pretty nice place to live…
My S has a scooter…scooter parking is plentiful on campus. Also, you could bike from University Commons to campus…Just be careful crossing Archer Rd. Good luck!

make friends with kids who have cars.

lol a telephone number… <_<
Get an RTS route catalog and keep it around. It’s really useful, especially if you use the buses often or are new to the system.

does anyone know the name of the APP. I’ve never really used the bus so it sounds kinda of overwhelming and the RTS webiste is just confusing x(

You can download TransLoc or UFmobile, or if you don’t have an iphone/itouch just use Google Maps and change it to buses
