Could someone explain what exactly the GSP/LSP Program is?

<p>I was looking through the NYU site and I came upon the Liberal Studies program. How does it work? Is it the equvalent of Columbia's General Studies college and is offered to people who want to continue their education or is it something entirely different?</p>
