On orientation/move in day.

My plan is:

fly from LAX to Syracuse, rent a car there (with the parents) drive to Ithaca. We'd get there Friday night. Spend Saturday adjusting to everything; jet lag, ect. Sunday morning move in.

Is this correct so far?

And as for orientation, do we register for classes in person? Is it imperative to register early?

I'd appreciate any anecdotes on orientation/move in day.

Thanks!

classes you do online during the summer. move in day you will spend most of the day moving in, until after dinner, you will meet with your OL and go to some activity with them.

spend your Saturday stocking up at Bed Bath & Beyond and Target - then return anything you don’t need afterall -

you will need a fan, and a floor lamp

good luck and enjoy!

If you go to the Dump and Run during O-Week you could pick up some things like a fan so you don’t have to go to the store.

i thought move-in day was friday august 20th? can we move in later in the weekend?

no, you gotta move in on move in day

according to the academic calendar for next year dorms open and orientation starts on August 20th, which is a Friday. you (the original poster) would want to push all of your plans back two days (flying on Wednesday, arriving at campus Friday.)

I remember move-in being pretty well-organized, with people helping you find your way around. I thought orientation week was pretty boring, and I just wanted to get started with classes.
