Hi!
I live in California and am very interested in uc Berkeley. I have a decent but not very competitive gpa for the school. My SAT is also only decent, but I moved recently and couldn’t continue many of my extra curriculars to my new school. I’m currently in two clubs, being the president of one and the member of another. I think my personal statement is good but I’m not sure how my chances are looking. If anyone would like to give me their opinions that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Also- I’ve taken 7 honors, 3 ap’s (I passed all the exams) and am currently taking 4 ap’s and self studying one ap
what’s your UC gpa?
what’s your SAT score?
My UC GPA is 3.85, and my SAT is 1890
Obviously your scores are not in their range but I think if you talk about the move and how it affected you and your ECs/GPA, you could have a shot. Good luck!
Are you a junior or a senior? I think your SAT is a little low, but if you have time to bring that up to atleast a 2000, you might have a chance.

Thank you everyone for your opinion I appreciate it I did talk about how the move affected me and I am a senior. And I’ll chance back
I think its not entirely impossible. As everyone said the main hurdle would be ur SAT score but if the essay is good enough it could happen! Good Luck!
Thank you!

SAT and GPA are both low; however, if you can articulate well how the move affected you I think there’s a chance you could get in. Best of luck!

Thank you, and I did!
UCB is possible but not probable. UC GPA and SAT score are low for such a competitive school. I understand that moving could affect your EC’s and possibly grades, but I would find it difficult to explain the SAT score. I hope you applied to some good match and backup schools.

I did, and thank you!

I disagree with everyone who states that grade point average is low. In comparison to the student body I would consider it high unless the 3.8 is weighted. This being noted your SAT scores could be higher however, if you take a loot at the dot diagram of students accepted in UC Berkley there are students who are accepted and do not have perfect SAT scores or 4.0-grade point average. Moreover, when looking at a grade point average many universities and colleges taking into account the difficulty of the classes in which you took. This being stated I agree with the majority of previous post if you haven’t submitted the application I would highly recommend making sure it’s above average in order to to raise the probability of you receiving a letter of acceptance.
Thank you for your input, unfortunately it’s too late for me to increase my scores. Perhaps they’ll like my essays.
@Edward4Stanford: OP’s UC GPA is 3.85 which is weighted, that is why some of the posters are stating the GPA is on the low side including myself. Average UC GPA for UCB last year was 4.19.
@Gumbymom Thank you for the clarification. I should have researched before I commented. Many of the school only used a un-weighted scale which I disliked because I had a 4.5 weighted. Hopefully OP’s will enable him/her to stand out.
I am so sorry for my late reply lol! I haven’t logged on recently. I think if I judged your chances by your scores, they seem a little bit low, but there is a complete holistic side of admissions. If you overcame some difficulties especiialy with your move and you state that, you might have a decent chance.
