College List: (all Regular Decision)
Cornell
UPenn
University of Southern California
University of Virginia
Syracuse University
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
SUNY - Binghamton
Boston University
Rutgers U

Cornell - high reach (unless that SAT score is improved)
UPenn - high reach
USC - high match
UV - high match
Syracuse - safety
U of Minnesota - don't know much about this one
SUNY Binghamton - safety
Boston U - match
Rutgers - match

Just my personal opinion...

Is the SAT score that much of a deciding factor for Cornell? :( I really cannot retake my SAT... Oh well. I'm gonna apply anyway.
Thanks...any other opinions anyone??

Sorry if I sound like an ignoramus, but what do you mean by "High reach" ? :S

High reach means it's highly unlikely you'll get in. Basically high/low means more/less in terms of assessment.

High reach=nearly impossible
Reach=very unlikely
Low reach=pretty unlikely
High match=likely-ish
Match=pretty probable
Low match=probable
Safety=definite

At least, that's my take on it.

Do you need financial aid? That is a big factor at all of your schools.

So, even with all that considered...it surprises me that Syracuse is tagged as "Safety:..i thought that they were more selective, than Rutgers for example...I don't know though..
But thanks TheWerg :)
Yes, I do need financial aid - sadly, my parents almost refuse to send me to the US if I do not manage to obtain financial aid...:(
More opinions please!! :D

It is really, really, difficult for international applicants to get in to upper-tier universities if they need financial aid. Since they don't practice need-blind admissions for internationals, you have to be extremely unique to warrant acceptance.

If you're an international, it's next to impossible to get financial aid unless you have extremely high stats and exceptional extracurriculars. This is because the colleges that give financial aid to internationals are the most difficult to gain entrance to in the country.

For more information, go to the international forum here in CC, and also go to the financial aid forum. Check the thread pinned to the top of the financial aid forum.

You also can learn about colleges' financial aid and admissions policies on their web pages.

It's next to impossible for internationals to get financial aid at any public universities in the U.S. Virtually no public institutions even give full financial aid to students from their states. They have a limited amount of financial aid and tend to give that to students from their state because their state taxpayers provide much of the funding for those universities.

Oh. More people chance me pleeeassee!
