Thank you in advance for evaluating my position, if you would like me to look at yours, let me know.

Great background. My only suggestion is to take the ACT again, and prep for it. Also, you may want to consider taking the SAT also.

Good luck!!! Keep us posted.

Thanks, momoftwins, for the quick response.

Yes, taking the ACT would be the best course of action. Thanks for the help.

Your profile looks strong.

Since you are entering your senior year, you have about 3 months to make any improvements to your profile.

West Point applications should become available in August. Make sure you have set up a candidate file on the USMA website if you haven't already done so. That way you will receive an application package automatically.

Get your paperwork in early. USMA begins to send out regular offers (in contrast to Letters of Assurance) in October so your chances are optimized if you have your complete application package into USMA before then.

Candidates are ranked based on academics (60%), leadership (30) and Fitness(10). Keys elements of the ranking are:

Academics( class rank, SAT/ACT score, grades)
Leadership ( extra curicullars, athletic participation, teacher evaluations)
Fitness ( candidate fitness analysis ).

Specific recommendations:
Retake the ACT and focus on the science component. USMA will take the top score in each section so don't worry about the other sections. Take practice ACT exams in the science section with the goal getting a 27 or higher which will put you over the 90th percentile for that section.

Practice the CFA events and make sure you can meet the average scores for each event. Especially make sure you can do the pullups and pushups.

Good luck.

Thanks aspen, hoping to do better in science on ACT.
The thing that sucks is thats why I retook it in the first place, only to find i did worse the second time! Haha.

why do people do this?

if you have a glowing resume, and you know it, please dont feel the need to post it on here simply for the validation of people telling you what you already know.

cadet for 7,

This is exactly the place for people to come for information on college admissions - especially when the question is asked in a polite way. As a matter of fact, most here will readily acknowledge that there is no validity to their answers to these kinds of questions. If a prospective cadet/mid merely reads the literature on SA's, a highly qualified candidate could be scared away. Also, we have seen many very strong candidates who have not received appointments due to the competition in their district/state.

In this case, SLS has a strong resume, but can make it stronger as he will need the most competitive file possible. He asked nicely and 2 lovely ( ;) )parents offered some suggestions. Sounds like a college confidential thread to me...

I really appreciate all of you looking at my file.

The main reason for posting it was to find out if I should retake the ACT and if I needed more ECs.

Thanks to all of you for your advice.

Are you guys saying that he-she needs a 27 composite score on the ACT to get into the top percentile?

You got a really nice lookin' resume here SLS

I Don't think your ACT score is bad at all

SLS already has a 28 on the ACT. You're right, dylan, the resume looks great. However, in order to apply with the strongest possible profile, it would be great to have a higher score. Solid prepping can lead to a better score. Sounds like that's what he's planning.

Yes, I think I am going to retake in October, which is the soonest I can.

From there, we shall see what happens.

Thanks for all of your insight everyone.

By the way, I am a he, if it bugs anybody. Haha.
