I applied to my first choice, McGill, feeling quite confident about my chances. However, after a month I'm really starting to worry, since my understanding is they take a "top-down" approach to evaluating applications. However, I did first submit an electronic copy of my mid-year transcript on February 10 and they received a snail-mail copy from my high school on the 20th. I also have the scores from three SAT1 tests submitted. It says on the McGill website that submitting additional documents could delay admission. Could this be the reason why I'm still waiting? I'm by no means implying that I'm overqualified but I would like to know if this is a possibility.

I don’t think that SAT scores and mid-year reports are considered as ‘additional documents’. They are mandatory for all applicants…

In fact, I sent a couple of extra documents like my Coursera Certificates and a list of my extra-curricular activities and received a similar email saying that additional docs could delay my decision. However, I received my decision about 2 weeks back in February…

P.S. I’m an Indian student so maybe that makes a difference…

I meant that on the website, they specified that submitting a transcript both online and through mail could delay the decision.

@sspdsk8a My counselor both emailed as well as mailed her reference letter.

I think there is still plenty of time to receive a decision so don’t lose hope. Last year (Class of 2017), students were receiving their decisions until the very end of April…

This is my second time applying to McGill and last year, me and practically everyone I know got accepted around mid-April! You’ll get an offer eventually. :)

Ok so if I don’t hear back until like the very end I still have a good shot?

I think as long as you haven’t gotten rejected yet, you have a good shot! I did the same thing as you last year i.e. mailed and uploaded my transcripts and I think that definitely slowed down my decision. This year, I just mailed everything in December and got accepted in February.

Whoops not sure why that sent again.
