I took an extra class second semester of senior year (it's my eighth class this semester) and ended up not doing that well. I'll probably get a C, or, worst case scenario, a D. I took it just for fun because it seemed interesting and I thought I could handle it. I did great in the actual class (95 average) but wasn't well prepared for the state-mandated exam at all, which counts for 25% of the final grade. Would this hurt me, considering the fact that this class wasn't even on my mid-year transcript? I really saw it as a supplementary thing that didn't really matter...In my other classes, I have 3 As and 4 Bs.

It will hurt you in your final GPA and class rank but otherwise probably not. A D could be problematic. It would be best for you to contact your college to see what they say.

Thanks. Though if I get a C, my GPA will actually be the same as it was on my mid-year transcript, because my grades in my other classes have improved. I just don’t want to contact them yet because I have no definite results yet. I don’t know how I did on the final exam, I just didn’t feel good about it.

Are you sure a D is a possibility?

If you had a 95% going in, and that was worth 75%, you’re guaranteed at least a 71%, which is a C at most schools. That would be true if you got a 0% on the final. Even if your school uses a higher grading scale, a 0% seems unlikely unless you freaked out and left the whole test blank, or you have spectacularly bad luck and didn’t guess right on a single multiple choice question.

If you got a 50% on the exam, you’re at a 83 or 84, which is a B most schools.

I wouldn’t worry until you see the final grades.

I think a 50% is a real possibility, and at my school, a C is from 77-84. I don’t think a D will happen, which is why I’m not freaking out. Just trying to consider everything, no matter how small the chance.
