Could this possibly help me in college selection

My grades are not straight A's. I am a pretty average student. I live in MA and plan to go to UMass Amherst through early decision.
What could possibly separate from other applicants is my website. I have developed multiple websites, but one of them is a social networking website from scratch. I have written all the code and from the looks of the website, anyone can understand that the website and its code is pretty complex. It has taken me a couple of months and its a full website with terms of service, user registration and all other features of a social network.

I have not yet opened the website to other users for registration including people my school for two reasons:
1. If it has a ton of users (since most of my friends and people from my school would be interest), then the admission board could think that I am just showing off my website and instead of just reject right away.

If I tell others about it, I fear others will write their applications and use my website while putting their name for it on the application. This could give them all the credit and all my hard work could instantly be stolen.

I don't know if this website can help me even a bit, hence I am asking here, can it?

I have some hopes of it helping me out or impressing the admission board.

Are you talking about UMass Amherst admissions? They will base the majority of their decision on grades and tests scores. They do also consider your recommendations, and EC’s and your website would certainly count as one. But I don’t think they are going to spend any time checking out your website to see how cool it is. Nor is it that unusual for kids nowadays to have websites or to have developed apps for iphones etc.

Do your GPA and test scores make you a good candidate for admission? This is from their website:
2010 Freshman Class

31,148 applicants for a class of 4,500
For those students whose high schools report class rank, the mean high school class rank was top 20%
Middle SAT: Critical Reading 520-620 /Math 540-640
Mean GPA is 3.61 on 4.0 scale

NOTE that the engineering school is more selective than that…

Are you considering UMass Lowell?

At the moment, I am talking about UMass Amherst. I don’t have the GPA to support that, but SAT scores are better than the ones you posted. So my website would make no difference?

So basically I am not getting into UMass Amherst no matter what happens.

According to College Board, UMass Amherst does offer credits for AP classes. I just finished two AP classes last year and took exams for both of it so I hope I get some credit for it. I really hope that helps in the admissions since my GPA is in the mid 2’s.

If you look on page 9 of the Common Data Set here:
http://www.umass.edu/oapa/publications/cds/common_data_set.pdf</a>
It shows you the complete breakdown of GPA’s for the last incoming freshman class, only 1.2% had a GPA less than 2.99.
You can still apply, but I don’t think your odds are good.
What is your guidance counselor telling you?!
