please let me know what you think my chances are at:
Dartmouth
Bowdoin
Middlebury
Colby
UVA
BC
Umass Amherst
Northeastern
Holy Cross
Lehigh

please help me out guys, I’ll chance back!

Dartmouth - slight reach/strong match
Bowdoin - strong match
Middlebury - match
Colby - match
UVA - match
BC - match
Umass Amherst - safety
Northeastern - safety
Holy Cross - match
Lehigh - match

thank you! you really think bowdoin and dartmouth are good aims?

Yes both are well within your reach. With the exception of Northeastern and UMass (which are highly respectable schools but a cut below), you have assembled an excellent list of schools and you will get into the majority of them.

thanks 1980collegegrad! i feel a bit more confident now. my only worry is my SAT scores which are at low 600s in CR and math. Bowdoin does not require sat scores, however i’m debating whether or not to send in at least something for EDI or if i should retake the SATs and apply the EDII round?

I’m not sure about the difference between EDI and EDII though in terms of difficulty
Any suggestions/input?

Dartmouth- High Reach
Bowdoin-Reach
Middlebury-Reach
Colby-Match
UVA-Reach
BC-Low Reach/Match
Umass Amherst-Safety
Northeastern-Safety
Holy Cross-Safety
Lehigh -Safety

**If you’re not submitting SAT’s what are you going to submit? Some of these schools still require scores. I could chance better if I knew what scores you were going to submit but for now I’ll do my best.

If you’re looking into Dartmouth you’re going to have to have something that makes you stand out. I know that SAT scores are weighed heavily for applications to Dartmouth. Bowdoin and Middlebury are both reaches. They are very selective and like Dartmouth you’re probably going to need to show something more than a 3.85, and a few ECs. You’re in the range to be accepted, but good SAT scores would help. UVA you have very little chance mainly because of the large percent of kids they have to take that are in state. Unless you’re an athlete or very overqualified its unlikely there. After that the rest of the schools I think you can get into. What’s hurting you is SAT’s because you aren’t in the middle 50% for any of your reaches. Bowdoin is probably you’re best chance because they don’t take SAT’s. Even though I’m not familiar with Bowdoin they probably still want some type of score right? Anyway thats just my .02.

I might take the SATs again in December to raise my scores. I have the tendency of not guessing between two answers or doubting myself which I need to stop - I leave a lot blank even though I know the answers… and even knowing that I did it again on the october sats and ended up with the same scores. So I might apply the second ED round and raise my sat scores, but idk if id get in easier EDI w/o sats or EDII with sats.

BC and Colby are safety as well and i would put UVA as a match.

I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but D had scores last year of over 2300, with 3.9 unweighted, great EC’s, terrific essays and teacher recs, and was waitlisted at Bowdoin and Williams, accepted everywhere else (top-tier LAC’s), and now a happy frosh at Colby. The competition is insane, and you have to just embrace the randomness of acceptances. You might be just what they want, with higher/lower scores than the next kid–you might have fabulous scores but be from the “wrong” part of the country, or play the “wrong” instrument, or the “wrong” sport, or whatever. You can’t second guess the admissions office! But you CAN give each application, each standardized test, and every interview your best possible shot–and then relax, because it honestly will settle out in the end.

i dont really care about dartmouth, my hopes are aimed at bowdoin.

bump…

I think you have a good chance but bowdoin does look at your sat scores even though they are optional if you dont turn in sat scores they will look more critically at your gpa and ec’s and i think gpa wise you’re good but ec is just ok not like amazing there are lots of people with such amazing ec’s soo try retaking your sat’s and get a better score ;]

Dartmouth - (high) reach
Bowdoin - match
Middlebury - low reach
Colby - match
UVA - match
BC - low reach
Umass Amherst - safety
Northeastern - safety
Holy Cross - match
Lehigh - match
