Hi. I know everyone must be getting sick of these "chance me"s, but I'd really love to know if I have a shot at Emerson.
I'm a junior right now, so I'll be applying next school year.
Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.8 unweighted
SAT: 1630, Reading: 550, Math: 540, Writing: 540 (I know it's low but hopefully my second go at them will be more successful)
Honors Classes: Wasn't sure if this was relevant, so I put it in anyways. Biology, English 9, English 10, World History 2, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, French IV
AP Classes: US History, Physics B, English 11 this year. Next year: Government, English 12, Statistics, French V
Extra Curricular: Vice president of NHS (I pay be taking over as president as our current president is moving) and FBLA vice president. I'm also an active member of forensics (speech and debate), theater, French club, and interact club.
I'm also going to be on the yearbook staff next year. (Apparently our school's yearbook won presidential recognition)

What are you planning to major in? As you note, your SAT is a little weak. Besides retaking the SAT, you might consider the ACT. Some people do significantly better on one or the other.

Cellopop, I’m planning on majoring in communication sciences and disorders. My dad wants me to take the ACT but I just missed the deadline to sign up for the last one this school year, so I’ll have to wait until september to take it.

Hello, eledbetter685! I will be a freshman in the fall at Emerson, so I can give you some advice on this. I was accepted to Emerson and it’s Honors Program with a 3.6 UW, 1810 SAT, and 9 AP classes. You’re pretty much at that level. I would get the SAT up just a bit, but let me just say that Emerson does not place that much weight on test scores. As you can see, mine wasn’t all that great and I was still able to get a half-tuition scholarship. The weight is really placed on essays and course rigor (which you have). Write essays that set your application apart from the rest and at least try to break 1700 on your SAT and you’ll have a good shot. Good luck with everything!

P.S. communication disorders major as well :)

Alittlescared, thank you! I’m taking the SAT again this weekend, and next year I’ll be taking the ACT. I’m really hoping to get into the honors program as well! Hopefully my hard work shines through!

My recent SAT scores: CR 630, Math 530 (I somehow went down 10 points even after studying hard), writing 650.
Think these will make much of a difference?

Congrats - 1810 is much better than your original score and @alittlescared said he/she got great merit aid with that score, with a lower UW GPA than yours. Good luck to you!
