Hi everyone, I am a sophomore at a small LAC in Minnesota. Here is my stats

International student applying for aid. Contribution: 10k annually for WaU. The other three are need-blind.

Major: Finance + Economics double major
GPA: 3.95, including high level classes (Investment, Commercial Banking, Honors)
Mid-term report: 4 As and 1 B+ from a beginning guitar class.

Honors:
Honor Program
Academic Role Model

Awards:
Academic Excellence Award at the end of my freshmen year
Chemistry Olympiad in high school (it was in another country, tho)
Creative Writing award

ECs:

Investment banking internship at a boutique bank in Asia, this summer
Treasurer, International Club
Financial Business Coordinator, Resident Hall Association
Chief Editor of a Finance Blog
Organizing a big networking conference this summer
Work at a computer lab TA
Tax prep volunteer for low-income families
Some leadership training
Intramural soccer

Recs: I have two, from my economics and finance teacher. I read them, very amusing.

Test scores: Don't send SATs, TOEFL 110/120

Essay: I talk clearly about my future plan of launching a retirement fund in Asia. Not so fancy but straight to the point.

Interview: only had interview with Cornell SHA, which went pretty well (the interviewer told me she would write a positive report)

Along with my application I sent in the sample articles from my finance blog and pictures from my extra-curriculum activities.

I tried to make the impression that I know what I am doing and have a clear mindset about my future career. Personally I think it is a negative sign for Amherst, since they seem to be more liberal arts oriented. However I hope I have a good shot at the other schools.

What is your opinion? I haven't sent my application to Grinnell yet and I raised my grade in the guitar class to A now. Should I send them in?

Thank you and good luck for all those who are applying this year
