Could you get into a good score even if you have a very low SAT score?

Could you get into a good score even if you have a very low SAT score? For example, as low as 1500?

No, in fact it is theoretically impossible to “get into” a good score. You may, however, receive a good score after extensive studying.

Not sure what the question is. If you SAT score is 1500, it is on low side. Is you question could you get into a good school even if you have a low SAT? If that is the question, it depends on what you are looking at. For the top colleges (forget the HYPSM), this score is very low, unless you have a hook. You need to give more details.

I mean good school. Sorry. If you want to get into a UC or something, could you get in with a score of 1500? For example, Merced or LA?

Yeah it is possible but your chances are just lower. Just look at collegeboard.com: search universities and click on how do I stack up; you may notice very few were accepted with scores in that range and many arguely state most who did were athletes… its possible just not as likely as having a higher score ofcourse. It also all depends on what university(s) your talking about.

SAT is optional for some good schools , not include UC

Merced or LA, are those liberal art colleges? If so there are many lacs that dont require test scores like Bowdoin.

^ I’m pretty sure OP meant UC-Merced and UCLA.

Merced yes, LA no. They are extremely far apart in selectivity.

If you live in California you do have a slight chance at UCLA:
According to collegeboard.com: [Academic Tracker - Meet College Admission Requirements - High School Class Selection](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

Percent of students with test scores:
39% 30-36
40% 24-29
19% 18-23
2% 12-17

Another example I’ll show is SAT critical reading score:
20% 700-800
47% 600-699
24% 500-599
9% 400-499

^LOL

Who got into UCLA with a 12 on the ACT?

They deserve a major pat on the back.

^ Probably some insanely good NBA prospect.

Hm… Is it pretty easy to get into the 24-29 range? Does it matter if you get a 24 as compared to a 29? It seems like the scores are lower than the ones for the SAT.
