I would like to know where would be a good place to go ski.

There are four ski areas in the Detroit area. Pine Knob, Mount Holly, Alpine Valley and Mt. Brighton. The closest one to Ann Arbor is Mt. Brighton but it kind of sucks. The others are not much better.

Up north (about a four drive) are Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, Nubs Knob and Crystal Mountain. They are OK but nothing like Colorado or Utah.

Is there anywhere you could go sledding?

the arb (if it snows)

when will the Skiing Resorts open?

They opened this week

Mt. Holly opened on Wednesday with 5 trails.

^^Boyne opened this weekend, but Crystal is not.

The only good resorts in Michigan are up north. Crystal is decent, and the Boyne’s and Nubs are good. They don’t compare to resorts out West though.

If you make the long trek to the UP - [Mount Bohemia - Extreme Skiing - Upper Peninsula of Michigan](http://www.mtbohemia.com/) Supposedly great skiing with rustic Yurts for lodging. Not open yet.
