<p>So, on common app, at the invite officials section i know i have to invite (correct me if I'm wrong) a teacher and a councellor . They both need to give me a recommendation letter. My question is --> Does the councellor do something else apart from the letter of rec.?

<p>The counselor is reponsible to make sure your transcript(s) and school profile (if your school has one) are sent. More importantly, the counselor writes a general recommendation letter, on it he/she will check off on where you stand relative to other students. Some schools outside of US do not have a general college counselor, you may get your headmaster to write the letter instead. Very often, if a college adcom has a question about you or your high school, they would contact your counselor.</p>
