What happens if your counsellor submits the common app for his part but chooses not to include a counsellor evaluation form ( recommendation letter)? I am honestly so pissed because my counsellor suddenly decided to not include the evaluation form once he found out it was optional cuz he is a lazy a-hole. Will my application look extremely bad to admission officers now? Btw I’m an international applicant.
Not a big deal really. At most large public high schools, the guidance counselors don’t know most of their students well enough to write a letter of recommendation - they provide the school profile, indicate how the student ranks compared to peers, evaluate the rigor of the transcript, and provide information on any disciplinary action…It’s not taken as a negative sign that they didn’t write a glowing personal recommendation. I suspect the adcoms will simply revert to your teacher recommendation instead - and frankly those are likely to be stronger and more detailed in any case. Sure, it’s a bit of a missed opportunity if you knew the counselor well and he or she could have written a glowing personal tribute - but this is not something to lose sleep over.
some schools require a letter of rec, some don’t. It’s only an issue if the school requires one and you don’t submit any. It should say on their website under admissions what NEEDS to be submitted.
