Counselor Error: Will the college be annoyed at me?

Well, my counselor has apparently never used the common app before. I didn't know this ahead of time.

So when I invited her to do my forms online for the common app, and she said "That's fine. I'll get that done as soon as possible." I assumed everything was okay.

As it turns out, she decided to send my transcripts and recommendation by mail without ever telling me and today, I had to show her how to do the ED agreement and upload my transcript...

Finally, after a few weeks of waiting, both my ED agreement and Counselor's form are marked as "Submitted," online...however...

...hard copies of my transcript and recommendation have also been sent to the top choice college in question.

So...-cough-...should I send an email telling my top choice college about said error and about the hard copies?

According to the common app website, colleges don't usually like receiving mixed applications unless they specifically request that some parts be online and some parts be mailed, and my college requested everything online or everything mailed.

So...should I email them about it...and sound like an idiot? Or leave it alone...and look like an idiot?

-headdesks-

I’m wondering about this, too. My counselor cannot submit her portion online (for some weird reason), but everything else submitted by me and by my teachers will be online. How annoyed will colleges be? Should I not even worry?

It’s not ideal for a paperless school (like mine), but it’s not the end of the world.

The person who reads your application usually isn’t aware of what happened in the mail room or processing side. I can’t imagine penalizing a student for such a small thing.

Good luck!

Oh, well, should I send them an email letting them know about the mailing error or will they just not notice and toss it aside when they get my completed common app?

Schools don’t penalize students for counselor errors.

No need to email the school about this.

Okay, thanks.

Just wanted to make sure. =)
