I've completed my NYU and JHU application except for my "School Report" and transcripts.

I invited my guidance counselor to the Common App on 11/10/13. She started it on 11/15/13, but never finished...

We are currently on Winter Break and all counselors are off duty for the holidays. The application deadline is 1/1/13, but we all return on the 6th. :(

Also, I still need to send a couple transcripts out. This part is completely my fault and I accept full responsibility. Is there any way out of this situation? Should I email the colleges and explain why these materials will be late?

P.S. The early decision deadline was extended because of glitches in the CommonApp. Do you think the regular decision deadline will be extended? If so, I might still have a chance! :S

Anyone? I’m pretty anxious here. I know this was an irresponsible mistake, but please help me out.

No worries, colleges are used to a few of the school-provided components coming in a bit late for various reasons. They understand it is not entirely in your control. As long as you have your application and your payment in by the due date, other pieces coming in a couple of weeks late do not cause an issue. They have so many apps to review, they just start with the ones where all the pieces are there and get to yours a little bit down the road. There really isn’t any penalty, don’t panic and DON’T beat up on your GC (that can backfire, as the GC has a recommendation to provide, and I believe can also make comments on the mid-year report!). Ask politely is all I am saying.

^Thanks for helping me out. And yes, I’ll definitely be polite about it to my GC :)
