Basically, I am one of about four students at my school that is using the common app. The counselors here have very little experience with the common app, and from a previous experience have decided that to go offline is easier.

Does she have to mail separate recommendations to each school? Like, if I were applying to nine schools, she would fill out the same information nine times? Because that sounds miserable for her.

When you invite your teachers online, they will almost immediately get an email that says they can either submit a rec online or by mail and explains the process. If they opt to mail in the recs, you will be notified by the common app folks and the common app will tell you to print out the necessary forms for your teachers. You will then need to print all the right forms and give the teachers the forms with stamped envelopes for each school. Most teachers will just sign all the forms and then do the actual rec on a separate piece of paper and attach a copy for each school which makes it easier for them.
