I can't believe this. Just got off the phone with sons GC and find that she never submitted his School Report. I could just scream. She even tried to blame my S. Then blamed the CA site. I begged her to submit even though it is now WEEKS after the Jan 1 deadline. How screwed are we?

I don’t blame you for being upset! Did you or your son check with her before the deadline? You might be a bit screwed, but I suggest emailing the colleges he applied to. They will understand.

My counselor hasn’t submitted mine yet either it’s been almost 4 weeks i think colleges will understand though…

What a nightmare. I worry about my GC as well. She is very nice, but old. She is not familiar with the common app as most of the schools in KS do not use it.
I am going to ask early next year!

I guess I can only blame myself. I’ve just emailed the 3 common app schools he applied to and asked will his application still be considered (thanks @xipaja). Ahhh…I will be so glad when this process is over.

No problem! I agree, this whole application process is a mess

This is such a common problem!!! I can’t tell you how many people have the ball dropped by their gc! At my school one boy applying to MIT had to meet with the principal to get his info submitted on time. There are so many different colleges and policies I think if you are going to the usual 5 choices they are used to then you need to be extra vigilant. My own gc has been great, but several fellow students have not had the same level of cooperation.

One Jan 1 deadline college got back to me and said they are accepting counselor submissions until Jan 31. Good news. If I have to sit in this counselors office to make sure she does it, I WILL!

That’s what I did when we hit a similar roadblock applying to high schools. I made an appointment with the counselor, made a big basket of muffins, brought coffee, and sat in the counselor’s office helping her until everything was submitted.
