I'm asking this way ahead of time. But does the counselor rec have to be from your counselor. Because I know 2 of the counselors at my school really well, but they aren't my counselor. I feel like either of them could write better letters for me. So when it comes time can use one of them or do I have to use my counselor.

Ask someone at your school. Besides the letter, the counselor has a lot to send to the colleges so you want to make sure they get all the paperwork.

I know one girl at my school who is getting a letter from another counselor who she knows better because he’s the basketball coach. Her original counselor completely understood. I would very politely ask your counselor about it before asking any of the other two counselors because you don’t want your original counselor to feel like you are overstepping him or her. Just explain to your original counselor knows you and your skills and character better. You might even want to ask around first a little bit if it’s allowed, because if it’s not and your original counselor ends up writing the letter, it might give off a bad impression. For the most part, however, I don’t see why there would be any problem with that. After all, your counselor probably just wants what is best for you.
