Counselor recommendation letter

Can my counselor send his recommendation before I send in my app or should I submit my app first (on common app). My counselor pointed out that I should submit my app first since they would not know wh o I am when the recommendation letter arrives otherwise. The big issue is that I want to wait till the last day (Oct 30) reviewing and revising my essay and supplements and if the counselor sent the letter after, the deadline might be missed.

Does the letter just sit with my app until I submit it? Would it be ok to ask my counselor to jus send his part in first?

It would be okay. They keep such files in a special place. Your counselor should send in his part whenever he completes it. I sent in my SAT scores and Recommendations first rather than my common-app, however, I do recommend you call the university that received the file and identify yourself as the ‘owner’ after you submit the application.
