Hey, so for Syracuse University, they ask for TWO teacher recommendations. I went to my guidance counselor, and since part of the counselor form requires the counselor to write a recommendation, she told me that one of the recommendations from my teachers will count as a counselor recommendation, and that I will need to get another one because I can't use her for a "teacher" recommendation.

Basically, I'm asking whether or not we can use the same recommendation used for the counselor part as a teacher recommendation? It would be like this:

-Two recommendations from two different teachers.
- Counselor recommendation part of the form done by one of those same teachers.

Please answer quick, because I need to figure this out by tomorrow, thanks.

I don't know about your specifica case, but this sounds like a load of crap. The cousnelor recommendation is supposed to be written by a guidance counselor - NOT a teacher, and you are also required to submit two teacher recommendations, in addition to the counselor recommendation. Once again, the counselor recommendation is to be written by a counselor. I would verify this with Syracuse, but I have yet to find a university that operates differently from this system.

It sounds like either your guidance couselor is very lazy, or she doesn't know what to say about you. Ask her. You NEED her recommendation.

All of us have "home-room" teachers so to call it, who are also known as advisors/helpers throughout our high school career. Since they've known us for so long, the counselor usually writes in, "See advisor's attachment" or something.
