While I was in my counselor's office today, I realized that he left some classes off of my transcript (they were online classes...). Without them its going to look like I only took 1 year of a foreign language, which is not right at all. What should I do?? To be honest, my counselor is clueless as to the common app because nobody at my school uses it so I'm a bit wary of trusting him to take care of it...

Were the online classes taken through your school? It’s possible you need to request/submit a different transcript, if they were at a different school.

My D took some college classes while in HS. They were not on her HS transcript. When she applied to colleges, she sent both her HS transcript & the local college transcript.

^no, they weren’t, but the classes are still supposed to go on my high school’s transcript (most of them did, but for some reason these were just left off). I took college classes as well and sent those transcripts separately. Is there any way for my counselor to make a modification to his portion of the common app?

Thanks for the reply and any more

Your HS transcript should be an official document issued by your school. Everyone should review their transcript for possible errors. There are computer systems behind the transcripts, and there can be entry errors and/or programming errors.

I had to convert a school’s academic history into a new software, and discovered that they had not been calculating GPAs correctly for 3 years, due to a programming error.

Your counselor is probably not personally responsible for your school’s transcript system, but can help resolve any transcript errors on your behalf.

Let’s hope so…

A lot of colleges require that you send in official transcripts from any school you took classes at, regardless of whether or not they are on your high school transcript.
