Counselor's Mistake Regarding Transcript

I have completed high school and am currently on a gap year. I am now halfway across the world from my high school. My counselor is rather scatterbrained and has made the huge mistake of not sending my four-year high school transcript to my colleges. She has simply attached my final senior year grades to ALL the counselor forms on the Common App and sent them ALL. I am now trying to get the high school transcript sent separately to all the colleges but it's already the 17th today and I'm scared colleges won't accept it or have already finished reading my app. The whole process is going really slowly because my school and it's admin really don't care about students applying abroad (I'm international).

Will my colleges penalize me for this? It isn't my fault at all -I wasn't even supposed to know about this! I have applied to elite schools including Ivies, Stanford, UChic, Pomona etc.

Thanks.

No. It’s no fault of yours.
They should accept it till fairly late enough - mid-feb perhaps?

Hi…i think you should try your best to have them resend it. Try talking to your counselor on the phone to get it sorted out. Maybe they could send the paper document by mail to each college…or if thats too complicated, maybe by email, though im not sure if thats acceptable. You could contact one of the colleges you have applied to and do what they advise you to.
I doubt that your colleges have already read your application, theyre probably still processing. Plus most of them say that they will contact you if anything is missing.
Anyway, im no expert here, so you should get someone else’s advice too before doing something.
Dont worry too much…I hope it all works out :)

Have it re-sent ASAP, preferably by mail. Attach a note explaining what happened.

Also, while waiting for delivery, send the colleges an email placing the fault as your counselor’s so it doesn’t impact you negatively.

So you think I should send it myself? I think it shouldn’t matter - there’s no reason I can’t access my own transcript. It would be a different matter if it was a recommendation letter.

I don’t see how you can send a transcript without a school stamp/principal signature/or something of that sort. So you definitely need to speak to your counselor and work with her to figure out how to mail it to colleges. You should inform them of the mistake immediately though, don’t wait on anyone for that.
