Countdown for Early Decision Response

as in when they post our admissions decisions on the application status portal online? I’m pretty sure that they email you according to when you submitted your application. What school did you apply too in BU? lights91

MAella10 - im from massachusetts

Yay I applied ED to BU also… I can’t wait any longer to find out!! Do you really think they post them that late?

8 days…

MAella10, I applied ED to CAS, and I think we’ll find out through email, yeah, but not at midnight or anything… (I wish we found out at midnight) I can’t wait!!

I’m from the west coast so I’m nervous that I wont find out until really late :(

Doesn’t anyone know the exact time the decisions come out?

Hey Lights91, Greeksalad, Jnd3344 and stargirl5050 it sounds like we are from all over the place. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we ALL got in?! yea it sucks that we don’t find out at midnight. I’m so nervous and stressed out, I just want to know already! if they do post decisions exactly on the 15th then that day is going to be so hectic for me- its the same day as my IB english oral commentary presentation!!!
But you guys all know that we do have a better chance getting in since we applied early…:)

MAella10, it would definitely be awesome if we all got in. I feel as if even though it is only one week away i have to work so hard just to get there. Its really frustrating me. I am more concerned that i would get deferred becasue then i would have to do another 7 applications
By the way, it is actually true that is is easier to get in ED. Is that just a myth or is it statistically true?

it is usually true but I actually think its harder to get in when you apply early decison. If you go to college board and search BU and do to admissions, it says that only 39% are accepted ED while 54% are accepted RD. Some schools are easier to get in ED but idk if BU is one of them.

thanks stargirl5050

Surprise to see the number of EA applications the school receives, I’ve always thought the number was around the 1,650.

Well, one of the BU reps came to my school and she told us they’re actually more lenient with grades if you apply ED… she said something along the lines of “because students commit so much in applying ED and they obviously love the school enough, we want to show appreciation and be a little more forgiving about grades, scores, ect”

That would be awesome if we all get in. I’m terrified and excited at the same time. Will BU require a Mid-Year Report? My grades are slipping a little and I’m worried about it.

lights 91, what you said about the BU rep is reassuring. as far as mid year reports are concerned, BU wil see your grades for, i believe, the rest of the year, however, they will only make a decision on your first term grades. Unless you slip severely i would not be too worried. From what i have gathered, as long as you dont flood your grades with C’s and D’s. I could see maybe 1 C or just many low B’s as being acceptable. Then again, i dont know what you currently have for grades. Overall maintaining B’s is your best bet. However, for Bu to come around in June and revoke admission your grades would have to be really bad

Hey Greeksalad & everyother prospective terrier 2014, yea don’t worry I am also stressed but as far as being deferred or rejected from BU I would be screwed since I have been wanting to go to BU since the end of my sophomore year. IDK what my backups would be there is just no place like BU. . . .
and as far as finding out we get an email with the admissions status available as a subject line and then we have to log onto our BU web accounts and that’s where it will hopefully say “Congratulations you have been accepted to CAS, etc.”
well it would be like 54% RD but its more competitive because BU recieves like 38,000 applications then.
And for ED BU recieves like 1,000 but mainly from California, NY, Texas, Florida according to their view book and the princeton review.
I’m so scared I just want to know. Officially a week from tomorrow we will know what our future will be… as my counselor said expect the worst hope for the best

yea lights91 BU requires mid year and final transcripts from your high school. they will rescind your admissions if your grades reflect senioritis. no one has that yet, right? ;)

wow I actually didn’t know that lights91 & greeksalad that BU will be lenient on your grades, now I am more confident that I will get into BU. being full IB can be overwhelming. does anyone else know anything?

Greeksalad, I’m just worried about 1 C… I think I’ll be fine, in all honesty. It’s just a little nerve wracking at this point. Thanks for reassurance though!

oh thats really exciting that they are more lenient on grades when you apply ED. I’m seriously so nervous that I can’t do anything! I find out from BU the day I begin finals which means I probably wont sleep the night before my first final. I hope we all get in! I’m just nervous because my overall gpa is very low thanks to a terrible freshman year… but now I have great grades so I hope upward trends mean a lot. I just really want to know what time they all get sent out…

7 days one more week to go

around this time next week we will know our future, how scary! Best of luck to everyone! That would be so awesome if we all got in, cc BU ED countdown support group! lol who knows maybe we might find out this weekend. . .
