I only applied to one, but that's because I'm going to be a HS senior next year, and I'm kind of just...giving it a go; why not? If I get it, great, I'll have a rockin' time going for 13 years of high school. If I don't, well, my senior year is all set up and waiting for me.

I can't believe there are only 40 days left -- I'm so nervous! This could totally change my life. 0.o I totally like the definition of it as D-Day!

@starcrossed what do you mean by 13 years of high school? do you mean 13 years of school? 5 of high school? also, does that mean you would be repeating senior year?

I'm gonna start crying. Andover lost all of my application materials. All my other schools got every single one of my school transcripts, recommendations, etc. but Andover only has the record of my tour and interview.

i called, and she looked through all recieved apps without a file... And my file (I don't even have one)... And nothigns there. I'm calling tomorrow. I don't know what I'm gonna do.

I can commiserate... one of my teacher's doesn't seem to have sent in the recommendation at all, despite having received the forms early/mid November... also, said teacher assured me it would be a pleasure to do it. I really like him/her, but... come on. My applications are all going to be considered late. I'm hoping they were telling the truth that they sent it in, but I kind of doubt it :[.

Also, on Lionlinks, it hasn't received 2 of my recs, even though the other schools received one of them?

It's such a mess :[. All the hard work! I'm sorry, Saer!

THE RECS WERE RECEIVED SIMULTANEOUSLY BY NMH AND CHOATE ON THE 13TH. The mail was received and OPENED on the same day! Exeter has confirmed that they are there, also!
ANDOVER, please, please, I beg of thee, what happened???

(not to put anyone down or anything, but...) If you receive your acceptance/rejection/waitlist letter just three days late from X school (which is very likely if they send in out on the 10th without 1-2 day shipping) you will be receiving it on FRIDAY THE 13th! (hehe, not trying to scare anyone...)

The PLAN of Amazing Ingenuity and Desperation:

1.) Call Andover and ask for them to check for my materials again.

2.) If no success, ask to speak with my interviewer personally to see what might have happened, what might be done.

3.) Request an extension on the deadline, as my materials were either misplaced by the school, or lost in the mail. (I have several witnesses to the completion and mailing of the forms...)

4.) If no forms can be found, I will call another school, probably Choate.

5.) Request very nicely, because I know it's unorthodox, that Choate fax a copy of my transcript and my recommendations to Andover, explaining my situation and desperation...

6.) Pray. A lot. That this is solved in time for the deadline, or SOMEONE out there is thinking kindly on me and giving me a break for once...

WOW I feel so bad for you!! Andover lost my grades! Or probably my principal didn't send them, and they had to send them again. Deerfield received my application, but HASN'T OPENED THEM YET! GR! Everyone has these problems. Hope everything works out!!! My advice to next year would be to TRACK THE PACKAGES! Ask for the rec's back from the teachers, and just send it all in one big envelope.

Ugh. I got yelled at on here for trying to send all the recs together, because thats not following directions.
And apparently my plan is also crap, cause other schools aren't responsible for my app, etc. etc. I'm too stressed for this. I need sleep.

Saer,
We're here for you, if they won't let you send it late, then that's the end of it, don't be sad over it as it's making everyone else (me) sad. Feel better!

I had a similar problem happen to me. My Andover and Groton recs and SSAT's were not received. The SSAT's eventually turned up, and I unfotunately had to have my teachers write another rec. It is okay!! Don't panic. The deadline is very flexble. Just speak with the admission committee.

When you call later today to see if they found the materials, and assuming they have not, respectfully request an extension BUT ask for a particular day for the extension deadline. You may be able to offer Monday Feb 9th as an extended deadline date for example. It may be much more palatable to admissions if you can pinpoint exactly when they can expect to receive the materials rather than an open-ended extension.

Then do everything humanly possible to gather the materials throughout the week. Send everything (included sealed envelopes containing teachers recs) together in a large express mail envelope w/ overnight delivery. That will be pretty hard for them to miss and it will get there by the quickest means possible.

I'm in a similar predicament but not quite so bad, SPS says they have everything EXCEPT my math recommendation which doesn't make much sense as my transcript and other recommendations were sent at the same time in the same package by my school counselor! I'm going to call them later :/
