We were brave enough; we spared neither ourselves nor others; but we were a long time finding out where to direct our courage. We grew dismal; they called us fatalists. Our fate–it was the abundance, the tension, the storing up of powers. We thirsted for the lightnings and great deeds; we kept as far as possible from the
happiness of the weakling, from “resignation”… There was thunder in our air; nature, as we embodied it, became overcast–for we had not yet found the way. The formula of our happiness: a Yea, a Nay, a straight line, a goal.

Nietzsche?

Oh, I had a little more Shakespeare since this is the calm before the storm:

But how often do we see against some storm
A silence in the heavens, the rack stand still
The bold winds speechless and the orb below
As hush as death. Anon, a dreadful thunder
doth rend the region!

I think all my lines are off, on where they begin and end, but that’s a nice part.

Yes, Nietzsche. I was trying to abrupt the pattern of quoting Shakespeare but obviously my intentions didn’t stop Millancad :(.

Once the torrent of Shakespeare begins, it is difficult to hold off the torrent.

I heard decisions for all ivies are coming out tomorrow at 5:00pm. Is this true?

@ClamzoniofRI: You missed a verb in your sentence. While I still managed to grasp the intent of your statement, the lack of a verb after the “to” did obfuscate its meaning when I initially skimmed it. And your joke with Germany (the “Deutsche” comma, har har) invading France, Britain, and Russia was not lost on me. I just didn’t find it particularly funny.

One must never their verbs. It makes quite difficult.

See?

@Esplin: Decisions for Ivies come out on April 1, 2010, at 5 p.m. (EST, as far as I can tell).

(Referencing a discussion from a couple hours previously regarding a previous thread)

Well, trivial in the sense in that our opinions had no immediate bearing on the policy itself. But yes, not entirely trivial, since the discussion may have had an affirmative and awakening influence on the opinions of those who followed it.

Yes, I recall that one individual had altered his or her opinion regarding the issue. (And dont forget to provide yourself with recognition as well. Your support was invaluable.)

We can’t let this thread die. Not when we’re so close.

It is 3 days, 0 hours, 40 minutes and 39 seconds until Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 5:00:00 PM (New York time)

SO EXCITED!!! Wooooooooo!

Still too long. I’ll be incommunicado until Wednesday night as I need a break from college stress. Then, right before D-Day, I’ll get back into it. Such a frightening process. Do colleges intend on making our lives so nerve-wracking and anxious?

@ Ksarmand: Well, it is unfortunate you did not appreciate my joke about Germany’s old knack for invading its neighbors.

I am sorry my small grammatical error hindered your comprehension of what I was trying to “say”. Obviously, you were eventually able to reach a conclusion as to what I wished to relay to you, so your bringing it up was perhaps a tad bit useless. I was not soliciting a grammar lesson, thank you.

However, I did find your last two sentences that were missing their verbs very funny indeed! Seems as though you’ve borrowed the technique from quite the character. ;)

Have a splendid week; all the best to you!

I would imagine that most, if not all, of the discussion here is. And I’m no grammarian; I simply enjoy being anal on the interwebs. :)

shakes hands and agrees to be civil Have a nice week as well. :D

^ I too enjoy ■■■■■■■■ amongst the ■■■■■■. My hours of perusing 4chan would not allow me to do otherwise. May we both conquer this Thursday.

Thanks for calling all of our discussion useless. Thanks a lot.

^^Another 4chan lover!!! That just made my day. For a while, I was wondering if I was the only one. :)

@motion12345: Don’t feel too hurt. It’s best not to take anything on the internet too seriously, unless it’s an emailed college decision.

I’m still crying :(.

^pats motion12345 on back If we both end up going to Harvard (YEAH RIGHT LOL :)), then I’ll buy you Cinnabons to provide recompense for the grave umbrage I have just committed. Deal?

I want in on those cinnabuns. And emailed college decisions/letters on the portals are very serious.
