Countdown to Decisions *** Discussion

Wow... we are nearly there now. Since I am not sure when the decisions come out but if it is April 1st, then we have around 26 days left. Again wow. So for early action we had a discussion thread and I found it to be a nice place to talk with other prospective Stanford applicants so I thought I would start one for RD.

Best wishes to everyone.

Cardinals for Life

Feel free to talk about anything.

Why couldn't Stanford be an Ivy. Then at least we'd be sure that results came out on March 31st. Darn you Stanford!!!

Just so you know...

Cardinal.
not cardinals. :)

the color, not the bird.

I'm scared as hell

This is very random, but did anyone here apply to UW-Madison?

Hell, even if we all get rejected, we can at least say this was the hardest admissions year ever, and will be for a while.

And if we do get in, it will make it that much more exciting!

Question: Why is this year going to be "the hardest admissions year ever, and will be for a while"? I'm not doubting, but I'm just curious.

Yeah admissions are expected to go up next year. Some schools are trying to build more housing and stuff and I know UCLA and UCB are increasing their acc rates.

Oh not already... We still have 20+ days left...

More applications than ever + cracking down on over-enrollment = we're screwed this year.

Best of luck everyone!

this is like 100,000 times more worse than waiting those 20 days to get my SAT scores back.

At dpattzlover, I also applied to Wisconsin-madison.
Stanford, stanford, stanford - one of the meanest schools in terms of admissions. Let's just see how it goes though I'm not really expecting anything from them.

My father told me that, because of the recession, schools are actually allowing more students to enroll at their campus (which means more money for the schools and larger class sizes for us).....does anyone here know if Stanford is doing this as well?

Stanford has over enrolled for the last 2 yrs for various reasons, one being the doing away of ED by a couple of ivies.
Dosent seem to be the case this yr as they have to declutter the housing.

Some schools are taking in more out of state and internationals = more money.

Stanford won't be doing that this year, but they plan to next year and the years after that. They are currently working on creating more housing.

I think it's possible that they might waitlist more people because of the uncertainty during the recession. I would think that there will be more families turning down Stanford for a public university because of the price...

I dunno. In my case, it would probably end up being cheaper going to Stanford than a UC, for example. Fin Aid.

remember the good old days when admission to top universities was like 33%...

^ahhhhhhhhh
