Countdown to Decisions *** Discussion

If you call without a GREAT reason for wanting to know the date, they will equivocate.
It happened at UCLA and UChicago.

Summary of Chicago updates:

3/25

11:30 AM: Stop bugging us about college decisions. They will be up around April 1st.

5:00 PM: Hey look! We posted decisions. Now you can check them.

They're coming out this week. Most likely Friday.
I was admitted SCEA, and I got another congratulatory envelope from them, and the letter said that the admissions office is "in jubilation" because it's preparing to send out letters to new classmates. It was postmarked yesterday, so, more likely than not, especially w/ Stanford's past history of releasing decisions on Fridays, the big email's gonna be in your inbox in two days. :)
So all the waiting will be over really soon!!! Good luck, guys! :D

LOOOOOOOOOOOL my friend said the same thing to me today.

Obviously I'm not quite sure what changes Stanford has made to its policy of releasing decisions because I'm already in college and therefore don't come to cc often, but I applied early to Stanford last year and was deferred. During the regular decision round we were told that our decisions would come out on some date after 5pm.

Cut to me, two days later around noon in California finally getting my Stanford decision.

SO I'm not sure if things will be the same this year, but I spent two whole days refreshing my email and torturing myself by doing that. So, on the day that decisions are supposed to come out, I advise you to check around that time, and then spend a few hours doing something that's going to distract you if it's not there. Seriously, it'll save you a lot of time, energy and calories that you will undoubtedly waste while stress-eating.

Good luck everyone!

P.S. if you don't get accepted, they won't mail you a rejection letter unless you request one, you know, in order to save paper.

lol^ save paper....

And heartache...

So kind of them.

From the website:

Admission Decision Update

March 17, 2009

We expect that admission decisions will be emailed after 5pm (Pacific Time) on April 1. Decisions for applicants who have applied for freshman admission will be emailed. Decisions will not be available on any Stanford Web site, nor will they be released over the phone. Students who do not receive their decision by email, may call the Office of Undergraduate Admission only after April 6 to get their decision over the phone. Decisions are only provided to students and not to parents or any other relatives.

Transfer admission decisions will be sent by email on May 15 after 5pm (Pacific Time).

I shall now go and stuff myself with a good hearty piece of chocolate cake (leftovers from my birthday) :D

3 minutes.

I don't know whether they'll send it at exactly 5:00 PST though.

I am going to get rejected

oh. i just looked at my clock...

it's 5pm.

p.s. and aren't people going around telling people it's 8 pm?

When the email arrives I probably won't open it for like 10 minutes. Anyone received it yet?

We can just tell whether we're accepted/waitlisted/rejected by look at the time right?

^i'm going to get rejected too lol..I already got rejected from hopkins and northwestern in the past day

I'm kinda psyched to see what Stanford AO comes up with their rejection letter.

Their SCEA rejection was worded very nicely. Better than any other rejection letters I've read so far.

Hopefully, RD will be the same. If not better... it'll keep me moving for the rest of the year! :)

8 pm ET, the more dignified time zone :)

8:03 !!!

hrm. it's 8.04 PM now.....waiittinggg

it would be a disappointment if we not nothing today after all the hype we've been building up for the past months. lol

sigh
This is not healthy for my adrenal glands...
