***Countdown to June SAT 2011 Results***

^Looooool, that’s funny.
Why in the world would you retake a 2380? That makes me think you’re lying.

we shouldnt get mad at people for asking if they should retake a high score…some people have very high standards. I’m pretty sure that most schools would not reject you for taking it again with an already high score, unless it was over 3 times.

i would retake my 2370 to prove to myself that i could be perfect, but id rather not spend the $47 :P

I had a 2180. extremely sad that if I had 4 more math questions correct, I would’ve had 800 math and 2280.

but

740 CR, 710 M, 730 W 11/12 essay, 69 subscore MC

Do colleges see the writing subscores?

Not as good as everyone else’s…
CR:630
Math:540
Writing:590 Essay:8

1760

You claim my writing score is interesting to you, can you elaborate?

@Aditya I got a 2380. Interestingly enough, that seems to be the most common score on here! There have to be at least five on this thread alone, and I’ve seen more on other websites. Funny how that works out. :P

May:

CR: 660
M: 640
W: 780
Total: 2080

June:

CR: 750
M: 670
W: 800
Total: 2220

I’m really, really happy with my improvement (140!). But that Math score is staring at me in the face. I’m not going to lie–I was pretty disappointed that I didn’t improve more on that one, given that I focused almost exclusively on Math in my studying.

Now the question becomes, “should I retake to bring up that Math or take Subject Tests?”

I feel pretty good about where I am, but I’m betting that I’m not the only one in this situation…

More than 90% of people who retake a 2350+ end up scoring lower

@pdawggy where did you find that statistic?

dude, i made it up. but it’s probably true

but 84% of people who get an 800 in math score lower the second time. cb tells you that when you get your full report

what percent do you think increase the superscore

^
There would be no statistic on that.

For writing, 87% of 800’s get a lower score the next time.

Yeah, I’ll post what it is for CR on the 28th (or someone else who’s previously gotten it on CR can now). it’s probably >80%, maybe >90%, as CR is seen as the most “wishy-washy” section
goldring2012, go for the 800 CR if it matters to you at a personal level. No college will EVER reject you over a 2370 and accept you with a 2400, especially if the last 30 points have to come about through another retake. if you have some ego need about needing to say “i got a perfect score,” go for it.

January:
CR: 700
Math: 710
Writing: 620 Essay: 8
Total: 2030

JUNE!
CR: 800
Math: 710
Writing: 690 Essay: 9
Total: 2200

170 pt jump! I’m really surprised at my CR but I am not gonna complain. Math… eh there should’ve been some improvement -especially since I consider math my strength, not reading! Happy that writing improved. Writing is my worst. Always. I wrote two whole pages this time so that is probably why my essay score went up.

I’m happy with my 1510 for math and reading but should I retake to improve my writing?

Seniors from the class of 2011 at my school told me that colleges don’t look at writing, is this true? I know that UF though is making the honors college requirement off all 3 rather than just math and reading.

and also, colleges do see writing subscores, as well as your essay itself. they often read it, and use it as an “essay verifier” for your common app and supplement essays. might be slightly bad news for me.

Does anyone know the curves?

Also, which should I send: the 2200 SAT or 32 ACT? should I send both?

2200 SAT fasho. I feel like ACT is still not as respected of a test (even though it is just as widely taken).

@neorobie

Send the 2200 SAT; no doubt. I also believe the ACT is still not as respected of a test, even though colleges technically weigh both equally.

And even then, I believe when the 32 ACT is converted to an SAT score, that it’ll be less than 2200.
