Countdown to March 10! 2011-2012

what are the questions like in the interview?

Bumpity bumpipty bump, here we go

wow I had an interview today at my small local private day school and my interviewer went to deerfield!

how was it? wat did they ask you?

It was pretty good… they just ask you simple questions like, “How did you find out about our school?” “What is your favorite subject in school?” “What are some extra-curricular activities you do?” “What are some of your achievements?” “Why do you want to come to our school?” etc. The worst question I had was “What would you want your legacy to be after you leave our school?”

December SSAT’s tomorrow!!!
I also went for my interviews and Lawrenceville and The Hun School this month!

Well. December SSAT scores have started trickling back in earnest… Got mine via email this morning- 98% overall, from 97%, 91%, and 98%. Generally satisfied, but disappointed at math. How did everyone else do?

My daughter got 98% verbal, 91% math, and (cringe) 78% verbal, for a full-scale score of 95%. She told me after the test that there was a reading passage she had a great deal of trouble understanding–that must be what brought down her score.

Um do you mean 78% reading?

@BSBound, that’s NOT cringe-worthy! Those are excellent scores! Almost the exact mirror of my SSAT scores last year. The reading comprehension brought my score down as well, but that didn’t seem to hurt my acceptance. Don’t be upset…those are great scores to show the schools. I don’t think you should worry about it too much.

Woowoo20, yes, I did mean 78% reading.

Thanks for the encouragement, Laughalittle! I’m not especially worried for her or anything. She did have some trouble with the particular reading passage on the December test, but I think that was a fluke. Glad to hear your story!

BSBound and Laughalittle, I was going to say the same thing. I got high 90s for both my math and verbal but a 72% for reading which dragged the score down to 94%

How can anyone be disappointed at a 91? Cheer up! Those are excellent scores!

Um… you mean me? 91 was low compared to my others. And it was math, for crying out loud…

I sound whiny. That’s the perfectionist in me speaking. :)

Bumpity bump bump

Oh wow, everyone got such great scores:)
Everyone who took the SSAT on the same day as me (where I live) has to retake it. They said there were problems or sth. D:
I’m taking it in January and they said that they’ll send the scores to the schools before the 14th…so I’m studying again…:(

BUMP! Essay writing time~! :(

Does anyone still have interviews to do? I have two… Where did you meet, if you interviewed off-campus with alumni? (My others were done with AOs, so.)

I have Milton and Hotchkiss left.

I have Hotchkiss left. I did my other off-campus interviews at caf
