1960, 110 point improvement!
I'm kinda dissapointed, I wanted at least a 2000.
Oh well...

CR went up a 100 points
Math up 10
Writing, exactly the same...

My score went up 210 points and I did absolutely nothing differently

My essay was definitely much worse too and I went from a 4 (I couldn't even read the scan they sent me) to a 12....baffling

ACT is still my favorite (36), but I'll take a 2360 any day....

1300/1980, i'm where i want to be

1990!!!! 90 point improvement!!! :D

But it was still a painin the ass to be only 10 pts less than my goal!!!!

My score went from a 2120 to 2350!!! 230 point improvement WOOT WOOT!!! I assume I shouldn't retake it now (although i could probably further improve my 750 in Math since that is the easiest section).

Note: I also got an 11 on my essay, 78/80 mc, and 800 in Writing so that is definitely the scale.

I AM SO EXCITED!!! I hated the SAT b/c I consistently underperformed. I am proud of myself because it was really a test of my ability to figure out standardized testing and not get tricked... I will further discuss how I did this on another thread... for the meantime I can't sleep I'm so pleased

^^ How did you increase your CR/W/Essay score so much?

I have an 800 on math, 690 on CR, and 720 on Writing with an 8 for essay =(

runforfun u have 20 pts higher than me on the CR but rest are the same. i got 11 essay and still 720 :( waht was ur writing mc subscore? prolly high i am guessing...

75^^^^^^^^

My essay score actually went down from a 12 to 11 in Writing. However, the main problem for me in multiple choice was that my first instinct was always correct, as I am a good writer, but I would confuse myself and pick a wrong answer that sounded awkward merely because the question was meant to trick me. ALWAYS GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT! And, in the harder Writing questions, no error seems to be correct when things sound awkward but don't have idiom errors, etc.

My CR went up by using a similar method. I always went with my instinct and tried to analyze the question from the perspective of saying "how are they trying to trick Joe Anybody?". This seemed to work. I only used one book to practice, doing every test in the SAT Blue book (thank god for that book!) and that helped me figure out CR. When you get vocab down to two, just because you don't know the word doesn't mean it isn't correct (e.g. antipode instead of satellite on the last test).

Finally, Math i got a 690 last time and I was quite disappointed. Math is easiest section and can be improved with practice (although I spent least time improving it). Even on the last SAT the errors I made in Math were clumsy mistakes that I found out about after the test on this forum so I feel if I really wanted to I could improve Math -- but I think it would be retarted to compromise my 800s in the other 2 areas and come across as an obsessive person.

congrats ehighmark

790 - Physics

720 - US History

DARN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I might be the only person whose scores went down in all three sections. :(

I really can't believe it. This is embarrassing. Will colleges look down upon this (I went from a 2110 to a 2020)?

Ughhh. Should I retake or try the ACT instead?

my scores are really low..

I scored a 1320.. for my first time.

What can I do to improve?

CR 720 (ok since I'm living in germanophone part of switzerland and never visited an english-speaking country for more than 1 week)
W 740 (essay 9, which sucks because I liked my essay (?) )
M 730 (sucks hard!! i NEVER had <760 in any BlueBook test!!!!!)

(=2190)

it was my first time and i'm gonna retake probably

^ you should retake since it will probably go up :):D

I'm pretty stoked...I got a 2400 (first time!)...

So yeah, I'm pretty much totally pumped. Those scores are official right? Because I'd be pretty ticked if they changed them :)

So, should I retake?

haha jk

wow congrats on the 2400

Omg am i the only one who dropped?
I went from 1350 to 1270
Im *ing *ed.
At least i still have the 1350, but i'm gonna d obetter on acts.

^ Yeah, my scores dropped, too.

(Is the 1350 out of 1600?)

Hi, I just got my scores -- 660 in CR, 650 in Math, 710 in Writing (2020 overall). Compared to most of the scores I've seen reported here, that doesn't look too good. Am I right or just really paranoid?

Also, as of right now for colleges I'm looking at University of Southern California and Barnard College in NYC. On collegeboard.com I'm well within their 50% range for scores but does anyone know first hand if my scores will be well-received at these institutions?

To top things off, my parents are next to convinced that I should retake the SATs even though I did much better than any of us thought I would. My mom is saying that even if my score is high, taking the test only once will look "bad" to colleges. Comments? I'd really appreciate it.
