Countdown to RD Decisions (Class of 2018)

I’d assume he means those grey tabs.

@Keepyourshirton Does your friend have any updates for us?

The tabs!

@APushed96 No need to worry, those tabs are grayed out for everyone, seeing as financial aid decisions haven’t been released.

@sonicsymphony Thanks for the reassurance! :-)

Does anyone know if at Rice there is a benefit to sending your enrollment deposit very early? With the way housing is (random selection) I would imagine that there’s not a benefit in that way. So would there be a disadvantage to not sending in the deposit very quickly?

I would imagine that this is not the best place to ask that question.

Nothing…guess we just need to sit tight.

Also waitlists and rejections are so common this year with (mostly Stanford) REA rejected inundating other top schools, with a great anxiety I might add. Randomness seems to be present in determining decisions this year. So don’t be too anxious, you might just be a turn of luck away:-)

Does anyone want to speculate about this year’s acceptance rate? With the great increase in applicants, it should go down by a little. Have they yet released an official acceptance rate for this year’s ED?

I am gonna take a stab at Rice’s overall Class of 2018 Admissions figures (including RD and ED). I did it with Stanford REA and it was kind of fun (was sorta close). Here are my projections:

Class of 2018 :
Total Applications: 17,715 (released in a press release)
Projected Accepted: 2,486 (down 97 slots from last year to account for change in enrollment goals)
Projected Acceptance Rate: 14.03%

Wow, 14%?? That is crazy…a three percent drop from last year. Rice is no longer a hidden treasure among high school students outside of Texas it seems. I believe there was a 17% increase of non-Texas US applicants this year…just something to think about.

Rice has sent lots of Mail to students to file with No admission Fees, that will push the students to whom Rice was on the May be List to Do List…

My top two choices are coming out this following week. O.o, I hope I can get into either Rice or Pitzer. This is a long week for everyone I bet! Low acceptance rates give me nightmares while I sleep, lol. Good luck to all, and don’t cringe whenever you see an email, because it might just be your spam box ringing. Lol night

The fee waiver applicants will probably have a lower yield, however

For fee waivers, didn’t they invite that based on SAT II scores? I would imagine that a huge percent of the applicants received one, since most applicants will have high scores…

So I don’t think it helps (although it’d be great if it did cuz I got one lol).

I decided to apply to Rice when got the fee waiver for my AP scores, so yeah that strategy worked for them

I did well on all my AP exams but I never got a fee waiver from Rice…

So is it certain that the decisions will be released on Monday? Or will it be on March 27th along with the Ivies?

I truly hope so…:-)…

They’re late this year. Last year they released it on 22nd, a Friday. I wonder what’s taking them so long!

I think it’s because they’ve had more applications this year than ever before. Not very comforting to know I guess… :expressionless: And living far away in India, the weekends seem terribly long…
