Countdown to RD Decisions (Class of 2018)

Are we actually sure it’s this Friday, or is that a rumour?

It’s a rumor- everybody just took their best guess.

I guess it has traditionally been the Friday of the third week of March. I’m excited. I was invited (and went) to VISION and I’m hoping my chances are good.

From my understanding, you’re basically in if you went to VISION @TarheelOwl

God, I’m kicking myself for not attending VISION. I was invited, but I’m on trimester schedule, and it was a week before finals… I really hope it doesn’t hurt me.

It shouldn’t hurt. It is just a indication for you to get in.

Thanks, I guess waiting has just made me overanxious.

I’ve heard that. I’m really hoping it’s true. They gave us the vibe that as long as we didn’t mess up, we were in.

Anyone have any info on Rice/Baylor? Will this be posted on the same day as Regular decision acceptances are released? Thanks!!

@levlevlev11
Hey there fellow Rice/Baylor applicant! I believe they will release the first stage decisions of the program along with the usual Rice decisions. Basically a Yes or No for Rice and if its a Yes for Rice then a Yes or No for Baylor’s Interview. If you get a Yes for Interview then you go to Baylor in April and the winners find out late April.

Late April announcement is really late in the game…

Actually it makes a lot of sense. Rice decisions are made normally and then Rice/Baylor is such a competitive program that they have to set aside time look over all of the candidates and select the finalists and then they have to interview those finalists at Baylor College of Medicine. As long as those final decisions (for those lucky finalists) come before the May 1st national decision deadline then I don’t think it is a big problem.

How high is the Rice/Baylor program on your list? It is the highest on my list. If I am lucky enough to receive a Rice acceptance AND a finalist notification for the program then I would be the happiest person in the world. Getting into the Rice/Baylor program would be better than getting into Harvard or any of the extremely competitive schools in my opinion because of the relative amazingness of both Rice as well as Baylor.

You’ll make it; you are a Stanford REA veteran LOL.

@Keepyourshirton
Hey there fellow Stanford REA veteran! I appreciate your optimism but the situation would have been different if I was a “veteran” that had been accepted lolol. In my position, I would be lucky/happy to get into Rice alone, let alone the program’s interview! With a interview rate of 3% and a overall acceptance rate of 1%, I am not so sure about my chances! However, this is the last lap so no point in worrying about statistics. Did you apply to it? or just Rice?

Just Rice. I wasn’t informed of the program.

@matrixsurgeon I’m already accepted to rice ED, so I’ve just been waiting on Rice/Baylor since December :stuck_out_tongue: Good luck to you!

@keepyourshirton and @matrixsurgeon - Stanford REA Veteran here as well ;)

Slightly difficult to focus on schoolwork with an admission decision possibly looming at the end of the week, but hopefully we’ll all hear good things in the end :)

LOL good to hear some positive thinking at this hour @jkim27
Let’s hope we do hear good news!

@jkim27
Well said!

So there is no official decision date yet? Does anyone know when the decisions came out last year? I’m assuming they’ll release the decisions around the same date as last year.
