a "private school" 2400.

The UC's may not call it a 2400, but oh well. I wasn't going to get into a good UC with my 3.2 gpa anyway.

If this is your first time taking, you are in good shape. F$ck the SAT practice courses -- they're worthless; ONLY practice from the Blue Book and the Official SAT online course. End of discussion. I got a 2130 on my first testing and now I'm at a 2340 composite. Don't give up!

Anyone heard about the University of Waterloo in Canada ?

They've got one of the Maths department in North America.

^^^Yeah, I have and so have the math and comp. sci. nerds.....

Holy *****-- $1400 is A LOT to pay for something that's just repeated in a book or a CD. Hm... Maybe I should start a business. lol

Well I've got admission at UW

last year i got admission at UW with president's scholarship for comp sci. and i suck at comp sci :p

rofl @ $1400 down the drain.. must be good to be able to do that

You don't actually think I won't be asking for my money back, do you? Don't assume my family is wealthy. We're solid middle-class... but we spend the money we do have on education, not flashy cars or tropical vacations. It's a question of prioritizing, even if this particular time didn't work so well.

I did get 800 in CR, mind you. I'm not a complete waste of space.

An SAT prep class hardly counts as education, IMO. The Blue Book is really all you need to prepare, and you can always pick it up at a used books store for $5 or less.

whatever.

(+characters)

It's misleading to categorically state that the Blue Book alone is sufficient for all students. It may be for some, while others may be served well by other books and resources. Of course, there are certain books that must be avoided like the plague, but there is still a good number of solid SAT books on the market. It doesn't take much time to work through the eight practice exams in the Blue Book. My students work through those and much more.
