With February 1st, most boarding school applications have come to an close. Interviews are over, people have visited, and the last forms have been sent. The chaos is subsiding. :D

Now we wait for March 10th.

As you look back at the 2007 application process, what do you feel you have personally gained? Have you learned more about yourself as a person? What did you enjoy most about the process? Would you have done anything differently? What results are you anticipating?

I hope we will all look towards the future with a positive outlook, no matter the results. There is an extraordinary group of people here on CC, and over the past few months, we have all gotten to know each other better; we have been united by this common goal. I wish everyone good luck!

The app. process was pretty nervewracking but looking back on it, (even if I get rejected at all the schools I applied to) I seriously could not have been more satisfied with my application.

Good luck to everyone! I'm gonna try to forget about March 10 for a little while

choate releases acceptance letters on the tenth since they have the online thing! very exciting! That's my first choice. only a month and a little bit :D

Some schools send things like car decals along with the letters. The worse the school the more stuff you get. My friends who got into second tiers got sweatshirts, mugs....

Having gone thru this for the first time with my D (another son will go thru this next year) ... my advice to all parents/students ... is to start planning early. Make a calendar with all of the important dates with deadlines, test dates, and results etc. Make a plan to visit schools early and keep an open mind. Put a plan on your calendar for Interviews, Studying for SSAT, composing Applications, sending out letters of recommendation and applying for transcripts.

The process can be overwhelming .. .especially if you are applying to multiple schools. We know several students who scrambled at the end to get everything done and probably didn't do as good a job as they should have.

Make a schedule with deadlines and stick to it.

In retrospect I should've started on my apps. earlier. I felt really stressed for a few days before each of the deadlines. However, it was a lot of fun visiting the schools and finding out new things about these amazing places.

I third the staring early thing. I started pretty early, and I got all my applications out by Christmas. It definitely made things less stressful for me.

Good luck for everyone! I ended up not applying because I wanted to spend my last year of high school in New York close to the people I loved and academically, my situation is really similar to that of the boarding schools I was looking at so it didn't make sense for me to switch.

If I do leave my school (which I might do because I just don't like it), then I'll go to another day school in the city.

For those of you who aren't sure you want to leave, think about it. It's not the worst thing in the world to stay. Boarding school gives you so many opportunities but you do miss out on the little things that make being a teenager such an experience. Maybe if I didn't live in New York I'd be a little more eager to get out but I'm in love with my city and I want to try something new for college (that means no NY for me... :( lol) so it just makes sense for me to stay here next year.

Good luck with everyone, and I hope you have fun at your new schools when you all get in!!! :)

Ya, good luck to everyone. I havee't posted on this thread, but I have been keeping up with it.

I hope everyone is accepted to where they applied!!!!!!!!!! Only like 31 days left till march 10th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are anxiously awaiting just like all of you. Actually had an incoming call to us tonight from our adcom at one of the schools my daughter is applying to. School had already confirmed receipt of all materials. Adcom asked specifically to speak with my daughter and just generally asked her whether she had any open questions about the schools or boarding school in general. We were surprised to get the call. Figured the adcoms where all buried under a mountain of paper about now and avoiding all contact with applicants. Nice touch by the school. Worth some brownie points in our book.
