I love this!

So, 21 days means that it's officially time to move from just being anxious to actually freaking out, right? Only three weeks until we know!

is anyone having problems focusing on anything other than MARCH 31st! this date seems to be soo far away.....

exactly, im just living life one week at a time....lol i keep looking at the status page of my colleges and keep refreshing it 0_o

i pull out my planner twice per class period or so (unless we have a test) and just stare at the X's on my calendar. this is getting bad.

I've become addicted to CC.... really, this site has no influence over the college decisions.... but still.... AHHH..... I can't even get through a simple reading assignment!

Ha. I'm trying to keep my mind off of it, but it still seems to be the last thing I think about before I go to bed =(.

what happens if one gets rejected from EVERYWHERE? as an international, i dont have any safeties :(

This is the final countdownnnnnn!! Dadadada, dadadadada, dadadada, dadaduhduhduhdododeeedoooo....

I love that song.

Lucky freshman applicants.

As a transfer my decision won't come out until like May 15. And if i'm waitlisted (0.008% chance but still) its June 30th.

I shall live vicariously through you people...and then resent you with inhuman hatred if I get rejected :)

I've been dreading over that thought, too. I applied to all reaches, lol. Fortunately, I have something to fall back on within my country as the entrance exams to colleges are taking place after the decisions from US come out. Only I'd have to cram up all the exam materials in two months, so I honestly hope I won't have to do that.
Let's hope our beloved colleges will want us internationals!

Well, since we're already talking about "what happens if I get rejected everywhere", and I'm an international, too, what would be wiser:

1: Going to an okay college in my country with absolutely no intention of staying and trying to transfer the year after
2: Finding a way to get into a very good prep school (e.g. Exeter) for one year and apply again (freshman)
3: Getting a job, work for one year and apply again
4: Going to a community college in the US and transfer
5: Giving up the dream (not really a possibility)

hey Dr Avrah, I doubt you'll be rejected everywhere! Where did you apply? I'm also international. If you don't get in anywhere then I think the best thing to do would be to take a gap year and do something really amazing with that free time. Retake the SATs if that's something you think would help you (i don't know what scores you have), work really hard on new application essays and try and participate in something that you have a passion for and that you could put on your application - research, exploration or some kind of adventure.

I don't think you have to be in high school to apply to college but I'm not sure. You would have to keep in contact with your school to get all the proper transcripts/documents though.

So that's my opinion.... I'm feeling unsure about my chances at this point too but I hope everything works our for all of us.

lol most internationals can apply to colleges in their own countries...but the thing is, ive been living in the US for the past 1.5 years...and I havent lived in my home country since i was 9...Im not really familiar with how things work there so I've to just hope that I get into ATLEAST 1 of the 8 places I've applied to :(

piratemonkey: I do not have any safety school, and I think my chances at all places are practically the same, so if I get rejected at some places, I will probably get rejected everywhere. Of course, Harvard is much more selective than eg Cornell, but I applied for financial aid. For Harvard it doesn't influence my chances, but for Cornell it does, so I think my chances for both are equal. I got deferred from Yale EA, so at least that's an indication that my application is not complete rubbish. My grades improved drastically, but who knows if that's enough.

I don't think that a gap year will help me too much, since grades etc. are the most important factors. My SAT could definitely be improved, but I guess it's impossible to improve my essays -- the topics are just perfect and my writing is as good as I could do.

Yesterday I looked at some pictures from last summer. I attended the Harvard Summer School last year, had the best time of my life and just fell in love with that place. There is something really amazing about all the places that I applied to, but right now, I just have the feeling that I HAVE to got to Harvard and nowhere else. In a way, it became my home and I just want to return. Well, I guess that's just my feeling right now, it will possibly change and I will be happy wherever I end up -- and, of course, there is the possibility that I do get accepted by big H. I don't know why I'm writing this (especially since this is the Yale forum) and which point I'm trying to make, but since I just wrote this, I now can as well click "submit reply" :)

Dr Avrah, I really hope that you get into Harvard. I know exactly how you feel because I feel the same way about Brown (lol I love how this is in the Yale forum). I was deferred from Brown and I think that if you were deferred from Yale you must be a strong applicant and I have a feeling you will get into at least one of your schools.

This is definitely the time when everyone's confidence begins to wane since 20 days is not a long time and those decisions that we've been daydreaming about all year suddenly seem much more tangible. I also feel that I'll be devastated if I don't get into Brown but I know I'll be happy wherever I end up. I'm adaptable like that :)

You definitely want it enough and you have the qualifications so now all you need is some luck :) Anyways, if you applied to lots of reaches then probability pretty much dictates that you will get into one of them!

Good luck!

piratemonkey: Thanks for your kind words, it's always good to know that somebody feels the same. I also applied to Brown and apart from Harvard it's the only college on my list that I've visited. It's a great place so I can understand why you love it so much. Hopefully you'll get in! Did you also apply to H? And, to bring Yale back into the game: did you also apply to Yale? :)

Thanks Dr Avrah. Yeah, Brown really is a great place. I just feel like the open curriculum and the intellectual, edgy atmosphere of the school are exactly what i'm looking for in a college. I didn't apply to Harvard but I did apply to Yale :) I'm really interested in history and politics and Yale some some incredible professors in both of those areas. I'm sure Harvard does too but since I chose to apply to just one of HYP since I don't think I have a very good shot at getting in. Out of those three Yale appealed to me the most.
Only 20 days left until we find out!

I hate waitingggggggggg

me tooooooo :(
