Countdown

10 Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really need to start that book

Wow. That is good to hear. S is only about 20 pages in. Won't nag him anymore......

6 days for me (going up early for marching band).

Yeah, I started the book, but haven't gotten too far - it's not terribly exciting to me.

That book is by far one of the most boring book I've ever read in my life. I'm really not that slow of a reader, but for some reason, it takes me like an hour just to get 15 pages of that book done!

how about that essay? how far are people on that and does everyone plan on actually reading that book?

I would think that for most rising freshmen this is not the most riveting of books. Perhaps it would help to read the discussion questions in the back of the book (paperback) before or as you read to help you focus on what the book is attempting to accomplish....Also, probably will give you a heads up on what your discussion group might talk about. Although I wouldn't worry too much about that.... Your advisory group will spend about 30 minutes to an hour max discussing it when you have dinner with your advisor. It'll be fine. There is no pressure. Have fun and enjoy your last few days at home.

i like the book.. for some reason. i'm only about 65 pages in though... uhm...

essay- going to do that tonight, haha

ok. i've read the first page. the author sounds like ayn rand on prozac.

the book isn't the worst i've read - its no where near the best either. Once I got past part I, it seemed to move a little faster. as for the essay, I got my packet friday, and I was away all weekend. So I hope to write it tonight, and maybe I'll attach a little note mentioning the painfully long delay in receiving of my packet. =x

Did the essay today... as for the book, not too far into it yet (~70 pgs) and it's been a slow read thus far.

What book are you all talking about?

Reading Lolita in Tehran

hahahaha emsibdn

The reason that emsibdn didn't know anything about it is because we didn't have to read anything last year. Instead we had to be up-to-date with what was happening in politics (I think everyone agreed that that was a bad idea).

I'd much rather get into a political debate.

I would much rather read. i hate politics stuff, i can't understand it.

it's just hard to grasp because usually you think of revolutionaries as liberals and in this book the revolutionaries are the conservatives & the liberals are the ones opposing the revolution. i think?

i think she's using liberal in the classical sense, leftists for marxist revolutionaries, and reactionaries for hardline islamofascists. but i could be wrong.

i asked this girl Vinita who's from Iran and that's what she told me. but she could be wrong.
