It's kinda of dumb to mention this but it's been 100 days since I applied to the U of W-Seattle as a freshmen for Autumn '09. Still I have waited to hear something so I'm optimistic. Ever since march madness rolled in, I've started to check my status everyday now. And on top of that, my friend got accepted last Friday, so the status checks are more frequent. Adding to that, I talked to someone who graduated from my high school last year and she applied for the UW alumni scholarship and received the full-ride but got rejected and did I forget to mention she had a 3.7? I'm glad my friend and a good number of people on this blog got accepted, but is there anyone still tense like me? If you are, do you know the latest you will hear an admission decision?

I am still waiting too. I’m from California.

AHH! I’m in the same boat so don’t worry. I’m from New Mexico (yes its a state) will that hurt my chances? I have a 3.79 UW and 1760 SAT and mild extraciriculars… is that good enough for admission? If you’re like me, you’ve been to all of the sites that “chance” you lol like mychances . net, and I’m so up in the air. I guessed right on all of my other apps but im so puzzled with udub… and its where ive wanted to go from the beginning. seaboy200 the last absolute last day they can tell us is April 15… we’re maybe in the last group but im hoping all three of us get in… but anybody care to help us with our questions!!!

I think if you were able to right an extremely nice essay, I think with those stats your in. I talked to a former UW admission recruiter who read essays, and she told me that in an application what you wrote could make-it-or-break-it in terms of acceptance. Also in your SAT score as long as you excelled in writing especially they can determine how well you do in college by your writing score. I hope that helps? And thanks for the encouragement; I also hope we receive those big purple packets in the mail.

hang in there

I applied as international and i’m kinda worried that my app status is still saying “awaiting initial review”…

tmt64 don’t worry, I know people I was ahead of in the status while they were in “awaiting initial review” and they got their acceptance letters already. It’s funny how UW does their admissions; you can’t really make out what they’re going to do next.

SEABOY220:

Wait, did you say that the UW most values the WRITING section of the SAT? I thought that colleges didn’t actually care about it because it was widely accepted that the writing section was along the lines of worthless. I thought that I’d even read and heard that the UW, although they require the writing score, do not actually really take it into account. That makes me feel worse cuz I have a 3.77 and an 1860 but with only a 580 on writing (680 on math and 610 on reading). I know what my scores are about average for the UW and from other stats (like collegeboard) a 580 score on the writing is right about average if not a little above from previous years…

So do they actually view the writing score as most important?

I kinda hope not…

Maybe this is true… I got 650 writing, 500 math, 530 CR and got the acceptance the other day! Was shocked as i had a low SAT score but it could have been my international status.

When DS and I visited UW they specifically said that they are NOT using the writing section of the SAT. They require it because they are collecting data, but there is not enough data yet for them to use the writing score to correlate to college success.

Im still waiting as well. My friend got in a while ago with a 3.8 and I have a 3.69. I heard that apparently there sending out decisions by gpa. so I’m geussing they sent 4.0 through 3.8 and are probably going to send out 3.7 through 3.5 sometime soon. I’m sure they are almost on there way! Hopefully :-/

i cant wait until they make their decisions! its killing me! i applied in november and still havent heard (probs from my low SAT score, but still!)! i try to limit myself to checking the myuw only once a day! i hope they make their deciisons soon its already midmarch!

I don’t think UW posts their decisions online because the status says that a admissions notification will come in postal form.

Since April 15th is the latest the UW can get back to you for an admission decision and is also pretty much a month away in between now. Time went fast when I stopped looking at the application status but now time’s going slower because it’s the peak decision time. So My advice for myself is get back to school work or occupy myself with something else. This is the last post I’ll make until I hear back by checking the mailbox(old school). Wish everyone luck and hope we get that welcome packet.

ps. If you’d like to share if you got back anytime between now and April 15th, that’d be cool

-later
