couple of errors on app and question

Son had a couple of issues on common app.

1) What he did was attach a resume which is the same information as in the activity area of the common app. High school recommended he do this.

The mistakes are not really mistakes just discrepancies on how something reads on the resume vs the activity page (the years checked column differs from the years on the resume but the activity was still done).

The only way these things would be noticed would be if someone took the resume and compared line for line against the activity page of the common app. I'm not sure anyone is going to take the time to do that. The question is should we contact the schools on this or let it go. In a way I feel it is better to let it go than call attention to it.

2) The other thing is that some of the activities son did just in the summer, he put in the summer the year after. So, if it were an activity that occurred in the summer between sophomore-junior year, he put the activity in sophomore/summer. Even though there is a PG column, to me this is still preference and there is no real 'wrong way'.

Any thoughts?

My son put summer and the grade he was going into when it was a summer activity. PG is post grad indicating something you either plan to do after 12 th grade or perhaps for those who are doing a gap year I think.

In terms of the resume, our school also sent one by snail mail which was really redundant since the content of the activities section was the same. I wasn’t going to try and change how they do things so my son made up one.

If the resume contains other things besides what is on the common app eg a music resume or numerous awards for an activity is seems more worthwhile.
