Couple of Questions

Hello, I have 2 questions regarding chances of getting admitted into a good uni.(with financial aid)
-First, How significant are ISO(International Science Olympiad) medals, when you are searching for colleges that offer financial aid? If you have a medal from Physics, Math, Philosophy or IT does that automatically guarantee you a spot in any college?
-Second, Do more SAT subject tests mean higher chances of admission? I don't know where from, but I've heard that 6-7 subject tests will look better on a college app than 2. And I know that there is no point in taking Latin or Chem if you're going to get 400-500 on them, but if you did actually take 7 subject tests and scored relatively well on them(From 680-800)
would that improve your chances? Thank you in advance.

There is never anything that guarantees you admission besides an acceptance letter. That being said, the ISO is quite an honor.

For most colleges, they are not required, but considered/recommended. Good subject scores show your interest and depth of knowledge on a standard level. If you got 2 800’s in chemistry & physics, it would look better on an app to an Engineering school. If to the same school you sent in English literature (710), German (690), Latin (720), World History (710), Math I (730), that wouldn’t be as appreciated as the other scenario.

Thank you for answering, but what if I wanted to major in Statistics, Economics or Philosophy, do German, Latin or World/US History subject test scores play a role then?

Definitely. I know Princeton requires all Engineering majors to take the physics and I think Math II, Chemistry subject tests. If you’re shooting for a language major, you should take the subject test for it. Likewise, a math major should take both math subject tests.
