Couple questions about UCSB?

When you apply to UCSB. Do you apply for the major or do you apply for the university itself? I really want to get into chemical engineering, and i was wondering is it really hard to get into?

Thanks guys:)

bump 10 char

It does not appear to say directly, but it does appear from this page that freshmen in UCSB’s College of Engineering are admitted by major:
[Changing Your Major | UCSB College of Engineering](http://engineering.ucsb.edu/prospective_undergraduates/changing_your_major)

The following implies that UCSB’s College of Creative Studies also admits freshmen by major:
[College of Creative Studies, UC Santa Barbara - Admissions](http://www.ccs.ucsb.edu/admissions/)

The following implies that UCSB’s College of Letters and Science students declare majors around sophomore or junior year:
[UCSB College of Letters & Science, Undergraduate Education](http://www.advising.ltsc.ucsb.edu/advising/index.html?tab=9#TabbedPanels1)

However, since your question is not explicitly addressed, you probably want to contact each of the divisions (Letters and Science, Engineering, and Creative Studies) with your question.

So would it be easier for me to get into UCSB by majoring in biochemistry or chemical engineering?
