Couple Questions

1) When do you start buying books? After your first day of class and after you get your syllabus or what?
2) Do you pay through wolverineaccess?

1) I usually try to hold off a week or two into the semester unless I know for sure that I will not be dropping this class for something else. Rent your textbooks online or see if UMich library has it to save cash.

2) Clarification pls. Tuition?

The student book exchange at the end of the first week is a fantastic source for textbooks, especially for intro classes.

1) I’ve bought 2 of my books, and I plan on buying the others soon. You can usually save a good chunk of money off of amazon. If you can’t find them on amazon, I think most people buy them right before classes start from the book stores at U of M. You don’t need to wait for your syllabus since all of the book information should be on WA before classes start.

2) If you mean for the books, no, the University doesn’t handle book sales at all; you pay whoever you buy them from.

You can sign up on Amazon for free shipping if you are a college student (Amazon Prime for Students). You can save a bundle on Amazon and the books come right to your door. You can buy new or used. Definitely better (ALMOST all the time) than buying from the bookstores around campus. You do not pay through Wolverine Access. You find out what books the professor is requiring (bookstores near campus will usually have this info, or you can wait for the syllabus on the first day of class) and you buy them from wherever.

Pay as in tuition, yes.

how does one pay for tuition if you don’t want to enroll in a payment plan? can you just write a check for one semester by the august 31st deadline and send it via mail?

[Making Payment on a Student Account | Financial Operations](http://www.finops.umich.edu/student/payments)

You can make payments online through US savings or checking accounts. I have to mail my checks in during the summer since I’m international and don’t have enough money in my UM credit union checkings account.
