Courant

Hi, I was just wondering what the average applicant to Courant is like. I've looked all over and have had no luck finding one besides the average NYU student and for graduate programs; I'm sure it varies drastically from school to school so I just wanna see if I would be a good match. Thank you.

My daughter is double majoring in CS and math in CAS. Math is in the Courant Institute. She was first in her class in high school and got a 2300 on her SATs. I’m not sure if this is typical or specifically what Courant is looking for. With this profile she was offered admittance in the honors program, which would have meant going on an intersession trip, volunteer work, and other obligations. She decided not to accept this offer, although she has taken an honors level class in CS. Apparently if your GPS is high you can take honors courses without being officially in the honors program. Interestingly, this offer of the honors program came with no offer of merit scholarship whatsoever. My question was: If she is such a great student that you want her in the honors program, why aren’t you offering her any money? This question went unanswered. I wish you luck if you decide to apply to NYU. My daughter likes it very much and is looking forward to her sophomore year :)
